Good Places in & around Pune.

Hi,

My friend with his family (5 members) is planning for a holiday in Pune region. He will leave Bangalore on 21/12 and reach Pune on 22/12. He is planning to stay there upto 29/12. He has arranged a car for moving around the places in and around Pune.

Can you suggest some good places and what all to look out near Pune.

Pilgrimmage - he can check out Ashta Vinayaka - most around Pune, 2 days
Pilgrimmage - Narayanpur/Uttara Tirupati
Pilgrimmage - Bhimashankar
Hill Stations - Matheran, Lavasa, Girivan, Mulshi Lake
Beaches - Kashid, Murud, Alibag
Forts - Sinhaghad
Picnic - Panshet

One more Hillstation: Mahabaleshwar (About 3 hours from Pune), though not sure if you get fresh strawberries there at this time of the year.

You can also check out Ajantha/Ellora caves, Shirdi etc.

Mulshi lake itself is off limits.. But the scenary is quite beautiful at all seasons. There are some waterfalls near by, but I guess they appear only during the monsoon.
