I drove from Bangalore to Munnar Jan-2007 on Indica DLS (30K done that time). It is not so steep as the Palani-Kodaikanal ghat road. It was a much easier drive for me. Tea County is a very good government tourism resort. You won't believe that it is government run one. Very reasonable rate, good rooms, good landscaping, good food and nice people.

My schedule is something like this:

Jan 20th, 21 and 22 nights at Tea County, Munnar
Jan 23rd night at Green Woods, Thekkady.
Jan 24th night at Tour and Lagoon houseboat, Alleppey.
Jan 25th night at Abad Plaza, Cochin. There is a good chance that I can extend my stay at Cochin by one more day.

Looks like my tour itself is in doubt. I had a small accident yesterday night at around 11 pm, when some tempo guy did not slow down for a hump while I did, and he rammed my Palio in the rear at a pretty good speed. The damage is considerable, and I will have to talk to my insurance (Royal Sundaram) when they open their office at 10 am today. The damage is to the rear bumper and the tail gate. I do not know how long it will take for Fiat to repair the car. If it takes long, I will have to reconsider my trip. I will keep you all posted.

The update is that I have just completed all the insurance formalities at Concorde and apparently, Royal Sundaram will inspect my car today evening. Also, Concorde will get back to me by tomorrow about the spare part availability. The tail gate, rear bumper and something which holds those two ( I do not remember that part name) will have to be replaced. I will know for sure by tomorrow whether I will be able to continue with this trip or will have to reschedule it.

Hope you can make it, and also stay a day extra. If you do stay the extra day, consider visiting the Cherai beach - if beaches interest you.

Looks like hurdles are crossed. I just got an update from Concorde saying that the car can be delivered on Saturday. A close call, since I will be leaving on Sunday morning to Munnar.

That means, trip is on! Meet you guys there. Staying for an extra day at Cochin should not be an issue at all.
