Default Need Help: Hyderabad to Pondicherry, Where to stay and palces to see in Pondy.

Hello Guys
Planning for Hyderabad to Pondicherry

Need help on :

Where to stay in Pondicherry , preferrably a beach resort and an economic one.
what to see: apart from Auroville, Paradise beach,
Where to eat: so far Rendezvous, Suguru

What we have decided:

Stay: St James beach resort (1800 doublebed)
Destination: Pondicherry
Mode of transport: self driven cars

Route finalised: Hyd-Vijayawada-Chennai-Pondicherry = close to 870Km ( it being a GQ from Vijaywada till chennai ) so tilted towards this one and the other route is

Hyd-Kurnool-Chittor-Chetpet (not sure of the road conditions) = 780 Km

Please suggest

Ate breakfast at Indain cofee house , good one . Arcos ( not sure of name ) is good nonveg hotel .

Read the travelogue (Reclaiming Pondicherry)

The promenade is also a good option, facing the sea and on the main beach road.

Service and food is not up to the mark at St. James.

Look up these two travelogues here and here, should give you a fair idea of what to see and spend time on.
