Dear harishnayak, if it were not for your reminder I'd continue taking my own sweet time But then, here you go:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/travel...ation-leh.html (The mother of all trips: Exploration Ladakh, destination Leh)

Note: I am pasting relevant portions of text from the separate travelogue (word document now) that I am doing intending to circulate it amongst the gang who we made the trip with. Therefore, frequently one would find names & personal references. Please ignore if that irks you.

And thanks for the GPS readings.
It's bad but not that bad. If you travel in two wheeler get ready to eat a lot of dust.

65 foreigners among 300 stranded in HP

Ashwani Kumar | TNN

Kullu: Sixty-five foreigners were among 300-odd tourists stranded near Bara Lacha Pass in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti district in hostile weather triggered by heavy snowfall on Thursday.
Keylog DSP Bhajan Negi said about 300 people could be trapped on the other side of Bara Lacha and rescue operations were hampered by bad weather.”We’ll launch more rescue operations on Friday morning,’’ he said. The rescue teams, however, found nine ITBP personnel and seven foreigners who were trapped in snow on the other side of the pass. The jawans, who were on their way to Manali from Leh, and the foreigners were caught in inclement weather at a height of 4,253 metres.
The district administration ordered closure of traffic between Darcha to Sarchu and Marhi and Koksar. SSP S R Rana said, “Over three dozen vehicles are stranded in Bharatpur, 10km from Bara Lacha. We have advised all (visitors and locals) to stay there until the weather improves.’’
With higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh getting snow and rains lashing lower areas, mercury took a sharp dip in the Himalayan state. Met office said the day temperature has fallen in most parts of the state with Dharamshala recording 19.8 degrees Celsius, Shimla 21.9 degree Celcius, Kullu 22.5 degrees C, Sundernagar 25 degrees C and Una 30 degrees C.

All posts and threads I read are VERY OLD and for stick-shift/4WD vehicles.

I will be driving a Mahindra SCORPIO Automatic 2WD

Looking for Help / Advice. Specifically for handling my automatic 2WD.

Where I should not be going, and where the danger areas are...etc.
Hope I'm not

Thanking you.

Default Octavia to Leh! Possible?

I know that it may be really hard, but is possible to take my Octavia Mk1 to Leh? Atleast via the Srinagar route?
