How come i dont see any one commenting on the (in)famous Bangalore-mangalore route via NH48(shiradi ghats)

Except the roads, i am sure the route is still very scenic and recently even the roads have been repaired.. any one sharing pics ?

I am planning to travel second week of july..will try to share some pics..

Maybe..for some quite some now....people were busy watching the road to avoid potholes and save their vehicle from getting stuck in the deep trenches (i am talking about NH48, shiradi ghat strech)..and hence had no time to click pictures or appreciate the scenery...lol.

Heard that the road has already started to show wear due to overloaded mining trucks. What a shame that 33 crores spent on this road may be soon go down the drain.

Any idea from Team-BHPians on how do we make the RTO / Govt to put an end to this overloaded mining trucks spoiling the roads?

Max, that Dodital pic is truly wallpaper material!
And how lucky to actually find 'monsoonal' weather on a trip during the monsoon. So often, our one or two day trips turn out to be bummers as we encounter only bright sunshine and cloudless skies!

Here you go, was able to find two shots, but these were from a trip long back, using a small P&S digital cam, and that reminds me that I'm still to scan the slides from that trip (was using film those days)..
This was a awesome trip, it was raining from the moment we started from bangalore and then intermittently it was raining all the way on the Ghats, and yeah, with rain the hills just come alive..

Apart from this route other routes I liked driving during rain was Simoga-Sagar-Jog section. Name: ShimogaSagar.jpg

And towards North-East it is Dibrugarh-Tinsukia-Digboi road, I hope the road is still in good shape. For most of the part the road runs by the side of a rail-track or lush green tea-gardens on the both the sides. Now you can imagine how green it'll be during rains.
There are other roads also which are very scenic but never driven during rains. I feel Shillong Cherrapunji road will also be a awesome drive during rain but when I went there I couldn't find a trace of rain. Irony of life it was, the wettest place on earth without any rain that day.

Wow, this what we stayed at in Fagu. Its HPTDC. We were few first customers of this newly built hotel at that time.
Its a beautiful place and my second favorite & nearest hideout in Himachal.

No It can not be Fagu. The old huts were only two rooms. I stayed there in (1981/82??) The new one is vastly different as the picture posted later shows.

I would have said Apple Cart Inn, near Vaknaghat, but that has slightly different geometry. Looks are like standard PWD bungalow.

So where is this Anup?

That is the 'old' HPTDC Fagu Hotel Peach Blossom/Restaurant.
It was demolished to make way for the 'new' Peach Blossom!
But Tanveer said something very interesting - is part of this old barrack still standing behind the new hotel? I had seen it partly razed sometime in year 2K, but never went again till the new one came up.

OMG,

BTW when was this pic taken 87 or 97, not clear on date mark. BTW backyard is cleared completely to give way for a more better garden.

Here is the view from the gate of the hotel and some ruins/cold home in the village of fagu:

Thanks for those photos, RK.
That means the old one was fully demolished.
Simply cannot get myself to go and stay at the new one! I miss the old, quaint structure and the new one simply fails to appeal! One of the wee problems of age!

BTW, that pic is from 1997.
