Mathur Saab, thats about 20Km from darcha, on the way to leh. And it happened just before we reached there. Being sunday, no land slide clearing, even though there was a bulldozer standing there. But we were hell bent to cross that, and we did crossed it

Would be fun to stay the night in that guest house.
Sudev Sir, yes its a must drive place. But do you think its ok to drive there at night. Road is just wide enough for a car and if its winter, whole stretch gets covered with snow.

Last time when I was there, they were putting proper road on the stretch and the guest or something was under construction there.

Some clips for Hattu Peak and Narkanda

It seems this Darcha Patseo stretch is ALWAYS plagued with something or the other!
We had to drive 'through a river' because a bridge had got damaged!

Default Maharastra

I know that Maharastra is amazingly beautiful in the rains. However Maharastra tourism website suggests one not to go to places like Mahabaleshwar during rains as they could get shut down. Anyone can suggest a decent place within 8-12 hour drive from Ahmedabad?

Mahabaleshwar / Panchgani are amongst the most beautiful destination in the rains; more than half of M'war is shut during the rains. But thats the point of going there! No crowds whatsoever and the best rates at hotels. I say, plan your trip and go ahead. Just be ultra careful with your driving...the fog can get pretty severe in the evenings.

Default Trip in rain

Hi,

Try Bangalore - Wynad/ Calicut through Thamarassery ghat. It is very scenic. The best weather would be drizzling rain.

Another option is from Ooty to Gudalur.

Both these offer pretty good and wide roads (so that you feel safe) and yet enjoy the great scenery.

Thanks,
ccn

That's at Tattapani, RK.
Here's my pic from 20th July 2008.
The Sutlej is in spate and there is no scope for taking your car to that point. Or is it the higher point that he drove to? (2nd pic).
