| BHPian | Hello, I am planning a Bangalore-Hubli round trip along NH4, around the first week of december. The last time i drove this way was nearly about an year back. Back then, the road was quite good - except for Davanagere bypass and a stretch near Ranibennur. How is the NH4 road condition these days? Any other suggestions for this road trip? Do let me know. Thanks. |

| NH4 is in a very bad shape from Hubli to Chitradurga thanks to widening work. |

| Second it. I had been to Dharwad over the weekend and I was forced to use one of those sleeper coach buses for my journey. Believe me, I was tossed up every now and then with my back on the berth. I bet, sleeper coaches are not meant for buses.... From Chitradurga to Hubli, the roads are terrible. NH4 is good from Bangalore to Chitradurga. |

| Distinguished - BHPian ![]() | BLR - Davangere: Gooood. Except the by-passes. Davangere-Hubli: Fairly good, but lot of switch-overs to the wrong side of the road & back. Some bridges still under construction. Expect the worst on the by-passes. Esp Tumkur & Davangere-Harihar. 7 hours for the trip is fair. |

| Drove from Chitradurga to BLR about 3 weeks ago. Some lane switching near Chitradurga but from there, the road is good upto Bangalore. As you enter Chitradurga from Davangere, lane switching is cumbersome (due to unfinished work). Regards Ravi. |

| Hello, I had travelled to pune and back from Bangalore through NH4. Till chitradurga it is good. The Nh4 turns to single lane in some patches after that. The bypasses are not ready in intermediate towns. (devangere, sirra etc). This continues till Hubli. NH4 is absolute pleasure after Hubli. Drive good. cheers Asit |

| Senior - BHPian | Road conditions are much the same since last one year. Blr - Chitradurga : Excellent Chitradurga - haveri : roads are good in patches and there are lots of diversions hence you can speedup at anytime. haveri - hubli : good Starting at 4AM from Blr, you should be in Hubli 11AM max including your breakfast break. | Senior - BHPian | I second what Abhi says, Bangalore - Davangere excellant road except Tumkur and Chitradurga by pass (around 10km). Davengere to Haveri = few diversions (30km bad stretch including diversions) Haveri - Hubli Good road. If you travel to Hubli this is only the route available compared to last year from march 2008 roads are in good shape as of now. With few breaks (45 minutes) one can cover this 400km in 7 hours with 90-100kmph speed. Regards, Ravi. |

| Senior - BHPian | Refer to the below thread for post#48 by Jedi.Knight who recently did this stretch all through to Pune from Bangalore. According to his post only around 35 Kms is bad and such small bad patches are still persistent. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route-...oadtrip-4.html |

| Road from Hubli to Haveri is great. Harihar bypass is complete except that it cracks up in the end (towards Ranebennur). Ranebennur bypass is incomplete, you have to go through town. The approach roads are cracked up and have pot holes in some places. From Haveri to Ranebennur is a bad road, in and out single road, with 2 level crossings and incomplete flyovers, with road humps and occasional bad road patches. No proper signages on Harihar bypass, the bypass simply veers off to the right, you can easily miss it and go into Harihar town. Harihar-Davangere bypass is incomplete, expect slushy conditions if it has rained. Davangere-Chiradurga is quite OK. Chitradurga bypass is incomplete, a little bit of dodging needed. Chitradurga-Tumkur is fantastic. Tumkur bypass remains incomplete. Tumkur-Nelamangala is as usual good. |

| BHPian | I quite agree. The driving time is around 8 hrs if you average around 80 KMPH with three breaks of 20 min each. |

| Senior - BHPian | Did the Blore-Hubli drive some 2 months ago. It's much better now considering we were in a car with stiffened suspension. Shan2nu |
