Default Spiti Loop

Hi,

I would like to know a couple of things about famous enchating spiti loop.

1. Which is the best time of the year to visit this place? Kids have vacation during the months of April & May. Would that be a good time?

2. What all things should be taken care of while taking kids with us? In my case elder is 6 yrs old and younger is 3 yrs old.

3. I have an accent. Is this loop doable with accent?

Please help. Thanks in advance.

1)I dont think roads are going to open in April-may.
June would be better but roads will be horrible, july will have rains.
so its better to attempt it post 10th august.

2)Kids wont have any problem,i know someone who did this recently coupled with leh ladakh with year old kid.

3)Accent-i would advise against it(i drive one so know its limitations).
you can upgrade the tyres and rims to gain some GC but then it will take severe beating.

Changing the rolling radius of the tyre/wheel combination might be disastrous in terms of stability and control and other suspension related issues that will crop up.

You might consider getting an aluminium alloy sump guard and a fibre glass petrol tank guard fitted before you set off on the journey. Typical total cost would be 5k.
