Anybody traveled to Port Blair / Andamans recently? or any one in the forum from Andaman. I wanted to check the internet 3G/4G connectivity there. I am planning for a 2 week stay buy no Leaves. I may need to work for few days during travel so will depend heavily on 3G/4G connectivity to attend calls over LYNC and connect to my corporate VPN for work.

Else if there is any hotel which provides decent broadband connectivity

Any recommendations ? Would prefer something close to the highways.
You will either have to stay on Wardha road and cross the city to go to Pench. Or cross the city and stay near Kamptee Road (here options are a few). There are good budget hotels on wardha road near the airport. You can also stay at Butibori 20km before Nagpur.

Not recently, but had travelled to Andamans couple of years back. BSNL had descent 3G coverage then.

Port Blair is a big town, so you won't face any issue there. In case you are planning of traveling to other places like Havelock, you may have to check with them beforehand.

Thanks.

I know Port Blair and have been there for couple of years, but that was way back in year 2000. My friend also suggested they have BSNL, Airtel and Vodafone now and BSNL has decent connectivity.
Knowing Port Blair I wanted to get the latest information if some one has visited recently.

Hey all, Me and my friends are planning to go on 1st week of may to any of the beaches along MH coast. We want to avoid the mainstream ones to escape the crowd. Any suggestions? Also, accommodation options for the same would be great!

Please suggest,

Thanks!

Sankam Residency, Belagavi and Clarks Inn, Hubli have been recommended by many members, I don't have any personal experience though and not sure about the pocket friendly tariff part
Do search the forums there may be other recommended hotels as well.

Default Long stay in 1 hill station

Hi,

I did not find any suitable thread so I am starting a new one. Mods please merge if I missed a suitable thread.

For the summer vacations, my brother is planning a month long stay in any peaceful hill station in north india.

His is a family of 4 with 2 kids, so he doesn't want to travel to different places. He wants to stay at the same place for the whole month.

So, I would like to know a suitable hill station along with the possible accommodation for the same.

Following are the requirements:

1. Place should be away from the maddening tourist rush of vacations.
2. The accommodation should have a private kitchen.
3. Basic amenities like running water/electricity is sufficient.

Thanks in advance.

You should Try Upper Bakrota in Dalhousie, It has three different cottages, Birdwood Owned by Chatrath's Dalhousiecottages.com , Dalhousie Retreat owned by Kakkars www.dalhousieretreat.com and Anand Bhawan Cottage owned by Mr Anand www.mydalhousie.com You can also search Upper Bakrota in Google Maps to see a few more options.

The Chatrath's have two cottages and their staff is amazing and you will get some of the best cooked home food, They just renovated the wash rooms sas well, Upper Bakrota is known for its walks and is a great place if you are a nature lover.

Although It will be difficult to get a continuous month long booking in one of these, But as all of these are a walking distance to each other you can always move a bit after a week or two.

Clarks Inn, Hubli

I have stayed here for overnight stay twice along with family on my way from Hyd - Goa and return. Yes, I recommend this. Its a nice hotel with good accommodation and restaurant with very nice food and options. Prices are upwards 3k.
Its not exactly on NH4 and 9kms away, however its a pretty straight road with less traffic.

Try http://www.grandestancia.com/ . It is on NH7 . We had some issue with the slow service during our last stay, but they were running full that day.
