Exclamation 14 Hours in my hand, 1200 kms to go. Is it possible?? Delhi-Mahuva

Hey Bhpians,

I am planning a business trip to Mahuva, Gujarat on the 3rd. Due to time constraints/financial crisis not taking a flight till Ahmedabad & planning to drive my beloved babe.

Just wanted to know about the road conditions till Ahmedabad. Further from Ahmedabad till Mahuva.

The route i m going to follow is:

Delhi-Ggn-Shahjahanpur-Kishangarh-Udaipur(NH79)-Chittorgarh-Ahmedabad-Bhavnagar-Mahuva

Should i take NH-8 from Kishangarh or move on NH-79. how many lanes on Nh-79. How many toll gates i am expected to counter. I know of toll gates till Kotputli. Expected toll to be shelled out.

Seniors please pour in ur experiences.

Varun, take the NH-79. it is a divine road. you should encounter 3-5 toll booths between Udaipur and Ahmedabad [I dont exactly remember].

Covering 1200 kms in 14 hrs translates to an average speed of over 80 kmph for 14 continuous hours. Think twice before you get into this tight schedule. Iam not saying this could not be achieved as I do not know about the road conditions, but starting such long journey with a tight goal is not advisable

Your fuel expenses will be in the range of Rs.7500/- spending extra thousands is worth considering risking something thats invaluable

14 hours and 1200 Kms through Indian roads, is just not possible unless its some kind of rally.

You should really include more driving time in your schedule. How many drivers?

If you are traveling alone, it is going to work out costlier than flying. 85Kmph is actually very difficult to maintain.

I did Mahuva-Ahmedabad a week back in an Innova and roads are in good condition,
but 1200kms in 14 hours is very tough.Flight to A'bad and then hired car/bus to Mahuva seems better option..

1200kms in 14hrs is gonna be tough but not impossible.
Recently, on my Jaisalmer trip i did 925kms in 11.5hrs flat, out of which 605kms were covered in 6hrs.
Anyways it also depends on the car, no. of drivers and also the time u start from Delhi.

A quick check reveled that air ticket available for Rs 4500/- one way. I don't think your fuel cost + toll will be less than that. So it is not economical if you are travelling alone.

Given the roads in Rajasthan and Gujarat it is doable, but strenuous.

Hey,
I think you are taking risks here.No matter how good a driver one is,driving against the clock is dangerous.
Ask me,I would say NO.

Thanks!

Many thanks for your words of wisdom.

Well there are gonna be two drivers, planning to leave by 5 am in the morning & 14 hours is not definitely a deadline. My meeting is on the 4th in the morning, so i can even do till ahd on 3rd & cover the rest of the journey on 4th morning.

Regarding cost calculations:

Car's FE: 15 appx. (90-110 km/h)
Distance: 1200 kms one side
Total Fuel Consumed: 80 litres
Fuel Price: Delhi 40.XX per litre
Let Avg be 43.00 per litre
Fuel Cost: Rs. 3440

Toll Charges: 0.5 per km Rs. 600

Total Price One side: Rs. 4040

Train Cost per person till Ahd: Rs. 1325
+Volvo Charges till Mahuva: 275
Total Cost per person: 1600

@2 persons: Rs. 3200

Flight Charges: Rs. 4500 per person - Rs. 700 cash back
Rs. 3800 p.p.

Overall, it is a great road to travel upon. So , i plan to take the scenic beauty.

I have now more than 24 hrs to travel!

Thanx a ton!

equation changes with two people

enjoy your drive!

BTW, I have been discouraged today by my finance department to go to Chennai for official meeting in my car, as they will not be able to reimburse me my travel cost in absence of tickets. Though it comes out cheaper compared to the airfare + local conveyance which we'll bear instead.

How about buying a fully refundable airticket, claiming the reimbursement and then canceling the ticket. You can then take your car.
