With mapping and direction resources like Google Earth, maps, yahoo maps and others available, it would be great if we can have GPS tracks for routes, which will give the best turn by turn route advise.

Many of us have GPS enabled handsets, please turn on route logging so that your route will be logged and can be of help to others having doubts over taking the same route.

Let me add the route from Perungudi to Valasaravakkam. The Google direction does not show this route since there is a new bridge constructed which reduces traffic and distance. Those who are unaware can use this.

And how exactly does one use the posted attachments? Sorry if I'm asking a stupid question.

Depends on your program. Most attachments are in GPX, the GPS exchange format. You can convert these tracks to the format of your device using GPSBabel, a free software.
For example, I have Oziexplorer, so I convert these to plt format using this software
