Sometime back I had travelled from Harihara-Shimoga via Honnali-Savalanga, the route was really good.
Thanks sushrutha. How long back did you travel?
Further, I just took a look at the map and found a direct road from Savalanga to Ko Halli, from where a right turn takes one to Sagar and a left turn to Shimoga. Do you think that road would be ok---it is definitely shorter to Jog Falls from Savalanga.

@Vnabhi, I had taken this route 4-5 months back, the road was good all the way till Shimoga, moreover the road has been laid good, I hope the road will be good during this time too.
I have got no idea abt the right turn at savalanga - sagara, Coz I haven't travelled in this route.

Thanks, I guess we'll stick to your route, even if it is a trifle longer. The route you suggested also will help me in avoiding the 4-laning between Bhadravati and Shimoga if I take the Chitradurga to Bhadravati route.

Ravi, we followed your advice to the hilt and enjoyed everything around Jog last Monday. Not many know of that left turn after Talaguppa that unfolds into awesome scenery---it is worth the extra few kms and I'd say it is a must do for visitors to Jog Falls.
Thanks a million for your help.

Rain has come down, only 10,000csq water is released a day back. So nothing like flood situaton at JOG. Roads are worst hit! But still I travelled in remote areas thanks to Safari and with local support to figure out alternate route.

Regards,

Ravi.
