Did Bangalore-Delhi-Bangalore recently and Gwalior-Jhansi is actually abandoned. Plants have been growing on parts of unused carriageway. Took me 2 hours to cover 100 kms early in the morning.

Why don't people use the Narsinghpur to Nagpur via Seoni road? Is it bad? I too used the route via Chhindwara as it was suggested by Google. It was great, but still want to know why we don't prefer the 4-laned option.

Two weeks back, I did the mistake of taking the Seoni route instead of Chhindwara route, the roads till the 4L stretch are good. Once we enter the forest area it is 2L and the road conditions turns to average/bad with potholes. Later there is a 25-30Kms stretch which is bad due to 4L construction. So, It would be better to avoid this route and take the 2L route via Chhindwara.

@arun_josie. While proceeding from Raipur, where should I turn towards Chhindwara? Is there a way of bypassing Nagpur?
Some detailed instructions would be a lifesaver. Trip within next few days.
Thanks in advance.

If you want to bypass Nagpur, then you will have to take the Seoni route because Seoni routes joins on the ring road which bypasses Nagpur.

To take Chhindwara route, I think you will have to go through the Nagpur city. I am not sure if there is any alternate to it.

I recently moved to hyderabad from delhi last month Did this on my skoda. Took the following route
Ghaziabad-Noida-Agra - excellent via yamuna Expressway.
Tip: If you are driving early hours, you can exit the expressway just after the agra toll and take the route to agra (two laned roads) and cross through the city). It crosses NH2. Otherwise go straight and take the ring road and enter agra from fatehabad road. This still goes through the city but bypasses major city portion.

Agra-Gwalior - Good road but will witness a lot of traffic during day time. At gwalior use the bypass excellent four laned road.
Gwalior - Jhansi - Lots of diversion. can maintain an average speed of 40-50 kmph.
Jhansi - Sagar - Narsinghpur Excellent four laned road
Narsinghpur - Chindwara - Nagpur Excellent 2 laned road. You will have to pass nagpur city (no bypass). Also number of tolls are less. Use chindwara bypass. Excellent 2 laned road.
Nagpur- Hinganghat - AdilabadExcellent road except for some small pathces and diversion after hinganghat till telangana border, ,but the road surface is good overall.
Adilabad - Hyderabad Excellent four laned road.

Just be aware there are not so good dhabas after hinganghat till adilabad.

just last week i went to delhi and back again. While going i took the same route but while returning took the seoni route. While the advantage of seoni route is i merged into nagpur bypass, the road conditions is really bad and should be avoided. Also when i merged into bypass i had to pay 3 toll of 100, 95, 100 within a span of 50-80 kms (this is because nh7, nh44, and some other nh merges here).

Hi
if your Origin / destination in Delhi is towards South or West Delhi / Gurgaon, it is a better choice to take Delhi Mathura Agra Highway instead of the Yamuna Expressway. Firstly, you have the choice of taking this highway via Faridabad/ Sohna/ Manesar, depending on where you are starting from. This avoids the 45 min to 1 Hr which is spent in getting to greater NOIDA to join YE.
Second reason to take this route is that you can use the New Agra Bypass which saves you 1 Hr of time and a few KMs. The new bypass is shown on Google maps of you enlarge the map, but does not show up in the directions as given by google maps. The coordinates if you want to enter the entry exit points ( For a drive heading SOUTH)in your GPS manually are N 27 15 48.27 E77 48 45.32 on the Delhi side and N 27 03 59.18 e 77 58 37.96 on the Gwalior side. If your GPS has coordinates in the decimal format, it is N27.263408, E 77.812589 and N 27.066439,E77.977211 respectively.

Hope the Supreme court delivers its judgement on the Gwalior - Jhansi contract soon and work commences to repair the remaining bad link on this drive.

A bit of a light at the end of tunnel for MP section passing through Pench National Park. NHAI has invited bids for constructing 4-lane roads from MP/MH border to Seoni with a target construction period of 2 years. Even if the work starts early 2018, this section should become motor-able by late 2018 or early 2019. After this news, only Jhansi-Gwalior section remains the painful part whose fate is not decided yet.

Just saw your post. You actually need to pay only two of these. I don't remember the exact locations/order but the two consecutive toll plazas with same amount are actually charging for the same journey. If you show the receipt at one of these plazas from your previous toll, you are allowed to go without paying.

That's strange. When we traveled this route last, the FastTag was operational only at Hyderabad exit of Nagpur Ring Road. For the other toll, we had to pay in cash.

Did Gachibowli-Nagpur today. Started at 6:20 AM, reached Sitabuldi at 1:30 PM with a tea-breakfast break and a fuel break.

Good News: Hyderabad - Adilabad is better than ever. It was never bad but this time it felt even better especially the ~100 km section within Adilabad district which has been given a new coat of tar recently.

Bad News: The stretch north of Adilabad till Hinghanghat has deteriorated. The incomplete stretches that were repaired are back to being moderately to severely potholed. Be very careful or you will end up with bent alloys/steel wheels. Even the tolled stretch (the one that's in the middle of the two incomplete stretches) is potholes badly. In June, it felt like the incomplete stretches will be done in 5-6 months but now it's looking more like another year or so.

Proud Indian Moment: Hinghanghat road-over-bridge is still not complete And the road near the flyover is massively potholed. Not even a square inch of tar remains there.

Nagpur - Sagar (Via Chhindwara)
Started at 10:10 AM, reached Sagar at 3:45 PM with a fuel break and some rest.

Took the road via Chhindwara as I didn't really have enough patience to bear the massive potholes of Pench forest on MP side. The road throughout is awesome. We stayed at Hotel Deepali in Sagar. It's 1.5KM off the Sagar bypass and it a perfect place for stopover. Nice/clean rooms, good food and a big garden for killing time.

Also, there is a GameZone with all the arcade games where you can abandon your kids for good while you enjoy a session of pool.

Warning: This looked more like a function/marriage hall. So, please check if there is anything scheduled on the same day.

Sagar - Agra
Started at 10:20 AM, reached 5:45 PM with a fuel break and a lunch stopover at Datia.

Perfect road till Jhansi but beware of a million idiots driving on the wrong side near Lalitpur.

Jhansi - Gwalior has gotten a little worse. Has developed significant potholes on the Jhansi side of it. Repairs were in progress but still please be careful. Also, the potholes are not the worst part in this stretch. The most frustrating part is the Dabra town. It's bursting with vehicle population. Easily takes 20-30 minutes to cross it while you move at snail's pace.

We had lunch at Tourist Motel, Datia (Operated by MP Tourism). It's actually a great place for a stop. You can have tea/food here and break the frustrating drive into two easier halves. Food is above average. https://goo.gl/maps/58ZhABxmSK22

Another frustrating section on this route is Morena town. Zero discipline, too many vehicles and all the trucks in the world.

Agra - Kurukshetra (Via Yamuna Expressway)
Started at 02:10 AM, reached 7:00 AM. Had to abandon our hotel at midnight because a massive unrest in Haryana was anticipated because of Jatt agitation. Wanted to reach the destination in the night itself.

Good road all the way. Delhi border - Panipat is being converted to 8 lanes, so there is a work in progress all along the route. Many diversions as well.

Note: Please get a FasTag if you can. It doesn't work on most tolls on this route but it does work wherever it matters the most. e.g. We were able to zip through the most crowded toll plazas where we could have ended up wasting at least 10 minutes each.

From Hyderabad to Kurukshetra, we were able to utilize FasTag at 13 toll plazas. Even if the ETC lane is not there, you should ask for scanning the tag when you are at the booth.

Guys, I am almost in tears while writing this update. NHAI has invited bids for construction of 4 lane road near Dabra Town on Jhansi-Gwalior road. Though this bid is only for 10 KMs of the total ~80 KM stretch, I am happy if someone fixes even an inch of this road. All hope is not lost and now I can see the tunnel at least. Need to find out if there is some light in this tunnel.

Construction period is 1.5 years. Not exactly sure how someone can take 1.5 years to construct 10 KMs of road in 2017.

Apparently, there wass supposed to be a god damn 4-lane bypass for Dabra town which was abandoned
