Default Delhi-Himachal road trip over Holi Weekend - Safety Issue

Hey folks, I'm planning to drive down to Tirthan over the coming weekend and wanted to check the safety of the drive with ma fellow members.

The route I'd be taking on 27th is:

NH1 till Rajpura - Bunter - Kharar - Ropar (Rupnagar) - NH21 till Aut - Tirthan valley

and would do the reverse on the day of Holi.

Now the obvious question is, would it be safe to do this route? I would be grateful for your input on the same.

just chill - your padosi is doing the same as well

His bull bar will clear the way.

That's great news yaar.

I think I'll have a word with my neighbour to make full use of the bull bar!

Thanks for clearing my doubts bro.

Thanks for the wishes! Initially I was planning to stay with Nature Lap Resort but on calling them was told that they're closed for renovation. So I think I'm gonna wing it man.

Any recommendations?

Default Happy Holi

No safety issues on this route but beware while coming back.

You may find vehicles being driven by the people under the influence of alcohal or bhang etc during the Holi.

Be careful (especially near villages / towns) with the people crossing the roads while coming back to Noida. They make their own way during Holi. Nobody can judge which directions they are going to.

That's a very true concern my friend! I'm planning to hit the plains after lunchtime in the hope that most of the drunkards/bhanged folks would be indoors sleeping it off. Will be wary of these types all the time though. I think I'm gonna take it slow while crossing any village/town on my drive back.

Have a blast Abhinav & drive safe

Time to go home & fortify yourself for the journey - no point wasting time in the Office!

Thanks Suman Da! Hoping for both myself.

Just waiting for my friend & colleague (we carpool) to finish his work! I think if he doesn't do that in the next 30 minutes, I'm gonna pull him by his neck! Gotta get the wheel alignment & balancing done and also procure the fortification stuff!

Don't worry. So you did not book Raju's. I don't remember the name of the resort I have booked, but I remember the location.
BTW the good news is that a western disturbance is active, and we may get some snow fun at Jalori Pass.

Nah, while going through various other options, I suddenly felt tempted by River Resort. It's near Deori village & just next to the river.

Wow it's great news about the snow @ Jalori bro. Be sure to carry your white jacket along man.

See you there and wish you a safe drive!

If i am not wrong Riverside Resort is owned by Anirudh from Delhi? I think i stayed at the same place in Dec'09.

When i booked it was called differently and when i went there the bill i got was on a different name. I recall one of the name sounded like Riverside

If its the same place, its a simple place and not resembling a resort in any way but bang next to the large gush of water which is more than enough for other downsides.

@ LoG: Do you know why I hate this thread?

Because I have Holi holidays from today till the 3rd of March.

And my daughter has compulsory attendance at school on Sunday (28th Feb) for the Annual Day celebrations, and exams on 3rd March.

The only consolation: This time next month, I should be at 14,140 feet.

LOG: personal experience, Start from Tirthan only after lunch unless you do not mind being smeared by gulal every few Kms. That valley and Mandi is known for boisterous Holi celebrations.
