Bang on target, Boom.
Marine, there is simply no comparison between the two. Since you keep repeating that you do not want to go wrong with your 2nd car purchase, the best option of the two would be the City.

For all I know, with a Honda, you would not even need to visit them except for the periodic maintenance services.

I know I am going to get quite some flak for this. But still, did you consider the Baleno ? It should be a good fit for your requirements and with Maruti service centres all over India, no worry on that count too.
There's also the newly introduced Fiesta and Aveo which you could check out.

speedbuster,
And I was expecting an "I was expecting this..." comment too. :-)
Hope you noticed that I put in a word for the Aveo and Fiesta too, just to enable him have a idea about what all is available in that range. Upto him to take a decision.

Marine, actually I am not sure why you limited your options to the City and Indigo. I mean in that budget there are other cars also available, which you could check out. Or is it that you already shortlisted down to these two after checking out all options ? If so, it would be interesting to know your take on the other options and why you rejected them.

Indigo is good in space, ride and easy on pocket, but if you like refinement (interior/engine/transmission/build quality) Honda City is the car to go.
thats german...

you just cannot compare between a city and an indigo

Ground clearence - City is pathetic in that regard
Please post real facts rather then confusing further. The NNHC ZX has a increased GC of 173mm.

Lets put it in simple ways if you want a cheap car. If you want quality then City it is buttttttttttttttt there is no comparo between a city and a indigo because the City is light years ahead. The city is C+ wheras Indigo is C++ Also NNHC engine may not be that powerful butttttt it will last for ever on top that engine will never ever give you a problem. I woukd suggest you the City anyday.

Yeah

Also instead of buying a Indogo i would recomend you to have a look at the AVEO, Baleno LXi (which i am sure will be avilable through CSD) and if you go for the Vxi Baleno you will get Alloys + Climate Control and that all at the price of a City

After reading your post I checked up with broucher of NHC ZX its clearly mentioned 160mm as ground clearance.

Can you pls clarify this, almost I got my mind set to buy NHC ZX GXi.

The brochure mentions it wrong i guess. Its the old brochure.

And yes, the ride height has been improved by 13 mm so that the City can sail over Indian speedbreakers.

BE INDIAN BUY INDIAN
Indigo & baleno are good options.
Go for indigo for fuel efficiency (diesel model),space, cheap spares, tata after sales service

Go for baleno for performance, space, better refinement,a little more solid build quality, maruti service.

But if i forgot to mention that baleno is not pure indian, suzuki owns a part of maruti

Busa, Its all very well talking about figures and links but in reality, even small speed breakers srape the under body of the City.

And the City has a HORRIBLE suspension for a 8 lakh car. Indigo is light years ahead in that department.

Agreed, the City has a great engine, but you wont pay 8 lakh for an engine would you?

The old NHC did scrape most of the stuff and i had my front lower lip spoiler always hanging and you will notice it too in most of the NHCs but the NNHC doesnot do so.

Also places where the City is better then the Indigo are : -

1) Quality
2) Engine
3) FE if you compare with Indigo Petrol and not Indigo Xeta (LOL)
4) Looks (My personal view)
5) Brand Image
6) Interiors
7) Almost everything. Butttt then the Indigo is targeted to a different set of buyers and mainly diesel whereas the City is a different car and both of these cant be compared please. Obviously the costlier car is better in this case(not in all cases)

It was Suzuki who has built this car entirely. Just like Optra made by Daewoo doesnot make it a American car.

BUSA is right, in NHC ZX they have increased the height and also made the suspensions stiffer. The result is...

+ can overcome many of the speedbreakers
+ be ready for a rougher ride at the back-seat [doesn't feel like a luxury car with such stiff suspensions]

there is no comparison between the two cars . the city is a completely different car from indigo .indigo is cheap, diesel, has good FE has good suspension but you get a much better deal with city if u are runnig less .it will give you OK FE and better suspension than indigo better ride than indigo ...but as u say u will have to strain your pocket for that then i would advise to go for indigo because it isn't bad but it isn't at par with city..
