Big car dilemma, help me decide fast!! - Team-BHP

Guys, as ya'll know, i've been waiting to get a new car and zeroed in on the Aveo. But today came to know about an Optra 1.8 with leather seats and has done just 15k kms for sale at 5lakhs. Now damn confused if i should get this or the Aveo.

Would be great if ya'll help me decide fast, as we already booked the Aveo and just in case we decide on the Optra, have to cancel the booking of the Aveo before its a bit late.

but i'd surely go for the Optra... If i had the money...

Is it really in good condition? Why selling for 5 lakhs, if its in such good condition???

I would rather stick to Aveo. Optra is a Second car after all.

Its an Optra MAX or sumtin like that....Will check it out 2moro and keep ya'll updated. Hope everything works well and the car is good

i would suggest to go in for the optra as it is a better car than aveo in every respect,go in for it if you dont mind a second hand.

Second Car is always a Second Car. You never know if there is any hidden faults in the Car. So, just go for the new Aveo!

that Optra sure seems fishy my boy! the price tag says it all, Thou i hate the Optra for having the Indicator lever on the left!!! it sure is a nice car, and it has a lot better resale value than the 5lk quoted!

Abt buying a New AVEO and a Used OPTRA( any good condition optra) then as u already have a skoda(as someone mentioned here) then rather go for a new Aveo as that will be better if u want to keep it for long time.
decide how long u want to keep it..
if u lookin for 3-5 years, then a New car is always the best choice. but if u want to change it withn 2 yrs or so, then go for the used optra as when u sell it again u wont lose much.

Even the Skodas, Opels, Mercedes have the same i guess. (Not sure about Mercedes)

Well nothing fishy about it that car was originally coming for 8L OTR 2 years old so the price is ok. Optra max was the model with only leather. You can get a 2003 1.8LT for 6L in Bombay.

Karthik, Go in for the Aveo.

A new car is always a new car and u get warranty as well

Plus if anything goes wrong, u can always catch hold of the dealer's neck!

My advice- Stay away from the Optra!

U dont want expensive bills in case the car is a lemon, I mean, expensive repairs and maintenance is the reason u have sold ur Octavia, right!

An update.

The Optra guy was asking 6lac for it. Was afraid abt Optra's FE and maintainence cost and hence dumped teh idea of getting it.

He has decided/paid advance of a 2005 Lancer Lxi or so. Expect a thread about it when we are donw with mods frm Autosyche, performance mods frm Psycho, ice from blueraven, 205 tyres, alloys frm league. Thats all I can hind for now.

I guess mods should close thsi theard now as it has done its job.

Well, if its Max then you seem to have a very good deal in 5L. Max was launched in May-2004 as a limited edition. Hence a 2004-Optra 1.8 for 5 lacs is really a very good deal if it is in good condition!

Optra at 5L look very tempting but if it has any faults then you the one paying for it.... For a first hand car in the 1st year you can always get the parts free if has any defect... If its like you want to use it for 1 year or 2 then go for it else go for Aveo... First hand car is always a first hand car...

As someone rightly said 2nd hand is always a 2nd hand until exceptionally maintained and buying from a known source whose driving habits you are aware of.

That optra i guess would be a non VGIS model hence consuming more petrol.

Go for Aveo .......... my 1.4 is giving me 11.5 city with a/c and run only 2k so far, if this helps.
