I have money lying in my hands waiting to get the Baleno Lxi as soon as i land in India on Dec. I hope they still have the current models till Jan 2007 and also not to mention the fat discounts.

A well-informed friend of mine says that the current Baleno production has definitely stopped and the last 350 Balenos were being shipped to the 350 dealerships across the country. You might want to have someone in India book the car right away, even to have a remote chance of getting it.

I second themag's resource as my meeting today with the dealer, I told him I wanted to buy a white one... For which he asked for 15- 20 days for dilevery as they have ceased productoin and he has to get that color from the company from the stock they are keeping...

Wait for the new Baleno or not is like the same as should I marry or not... \
Cheers

And again going in for the old Baleno at this point of time will only diminish the resale value of the car further... Think about it...

Cheers

nitrous, how can you be so cruel as to speak about the demise of my babe ?

Well, the old has to make way for the new. And it applies to cars too.
I hope they don't screw up the pricing like they did with the original Baleno and hope they have a nice product for the consumer.

The death is just physical.
It will always live in all our hearts like the OHC VTEC

MUL has stopped even publishing AD for Baleno in the local newspapers of Hyderabad during Diwali Dhamaka offer. Surprisingly for all the other models of MUL the AD continues. Some developments must be there. However, when asked about the new Baleno launch the dealers (ACER motors etc.) are showing complete ignorance.

Speedme, all indications point towards a November/December launch. I can understand your confusion with reports of discontinued production, etc. I would also suggest you to wait for a month.

We've argued (in another thread) on whether the sedan version looks good or not All we have seen are some scoop pictures published by ACI(seen on other websites too). Since this car hasn't been launched in any other country, I wouldn't decide just on the basis of these pictures.

About the engine - my guess is that we'll initially see the existing 1.6L Baleno engine in the new sedan. MUL adopted a similar strategy to keep prices low when they launched Swift. But, I hope MUL takes the bold step taken by Honda with NHC and bring in an all new car. Get in a new set of engines - a new petrol and 1.9JTD version.

Thank all you guyz, but a little bit of info I would like to share here.... Although i do not how true it is but I can trust my family.
An award winning dealer for Maruti told me that the new baleno cannot be expected before the next 6 months... So instead of waiting I am going in for the Baleno Vxi...... Also for other baleno wannabe owners Lxi is almost out of stock with most New Delhi dealers...
Also perhaps a new deal on the baleno will pour in on the 2nd of Nov onwards.

Cheers till then
