Whether to buy used Lancer Slxd 2001 diesel

My friend is offering me to sell his 2001 used diesel lancer ( Slxd ) . The car has run 74000 kms. The car looks good and has a smooth ride. His price is 3.6 lakhs. Please confirm if i can go for this car --

My needs and specs are as follows:

I am planning to use the car mainly on weekends as i stay close to work.
Max car usage will be 500 Kms per month.
I do not want to spend too much money on maintenance.
I will be driving the car myself
I am planning to keep this car for a year or two and sell it off and would expect some re-sale value.
This car will be driven mostly by me and that too in the city on good roads.

Please suggest as to a 'go' or a 'no go'

IMO, 3.6 lkhas for 2001 diesel is too much. You should negotiate the price. Also, i test driven lancer diesel 2 years back and it wasn't good enough as compared to accent crdi. You may also consider used accent crdi which is much better then lancer and has greate mileage.

Also what do you think of the mileage given that it is a diesel and resale value

u could offer a max of 2.5L for that mileage the car has done,..also lancers are not CHEAP to own..beware..my friend..

72K,lancer diesel,that means u have to shell out too much cash for oncoming services as parts are heavily priced.Also 500 km/month means its better stay away from diesel cars.The car u've specified is worth 2.5 to 2.75 lakhs,if its in mint condition.
