Damn, B'lore car prices are high !!!

Flair has been selling the Flair here in Chennai for 4.95L on-road for quite some time now. And recently the insurance is also free, making it cheaper by some more thousands.

I checked yesterday with a couple of dealers here in Mumbai about the accent and was told that there are no cars in stock. The production has been stopped and only the CRDI variant is available. The new accent is expected to be launched sometime in Feb/ March 07.

@suman: I was simply voicing my preference and the reasons, only when asked for, since I knew it would start a this is better than that post. Ultimately as SB said, the OP has to finally TD both and decide. I did forget to add: My preference would still be Hyundai over Ford all other things being equal, at least in India for the time being.

There is nothing much wrong with the Ikon Flair as well.

looks like the verna, but the grill is slightly different. verna's grill is a lot bigger. this car is probably smaller than the verna too.

This is the Verna. The Grille for India is slightly different.

Hi Harikiran,

Firstly, Welcome to T-BHP !!!

I own a Accent GLE. Brought it a little more than 2 years back. It has till date served me very well and I still love it. Its a faultless car really. If you have made up your mind go ahead and buy it, you will not regret your desicion. BUT keep in mind that Accent GLE is now a bit outdated as it is a 6 year old car but nevertheless it is a good VFM car. You still have old cars selling well - examples - Esteem, Ikon, Accent - all very reliable cars at a very good price.

You can also look at the Base version of the Verna which is a very good car again. I think OTR price of Verna Xi will be around 6.5 Lacs. Other cars worth mentioing are SX4 Vxi which is again the newest of the lot and a very very good car.

Please go through this thread once -

Cheers !! Varun

vKochar, Thanks for your quick reply. Thing is my budget can stretch only till 6 lacs. The base version of SX4 and Verna cost around 7.2 lacs which is way beyond my budget.
But the only worry I have on Accent GLE is what type of support I will get if it gets discontinued in future?

If it's 5.10k on road, then it's a very good price, and my personal view is that an Accent ages much better than the Ikon and the Indigo, in the same price range.

So it's Accent for me atleast in the price range.

Accent GLE is a nice car, though it maybe discontinued in future, i would advise you to test drive the Accent as well as the Ikon 1.3 and then take your pic.

Between the Accent and Ikon, I would choose Accent. Hyundai service is good, reliable and cheap. Sadly I found Ford lacking in the latter two attributes.
Take a long test-drive, see which car makes your heart beat a little faster. Choose that one, because if you love the car, you'll overlook other niggles!

You will get parts for both cars for a long time, even if they are discontinued, there are so many on the road, you need not fear.
