Yes, the Indigo XL will fit the bill perfectly, but refinement levels in Civic/Optra are in a different league altogether.

The 1.6 VGIS comes with MP3, Sun Roof, 15inchers, Driver Side Airbag, Leather Seats & lots of kit at the price. A worth buy IMHO.

Dceite,

I would suggest the Corolla here if your uncle ain't driving. Super comfortable at the back and minimum maintainence, good FE and cheap spares. The resale value might be a problem as the newer one comes into the market. The only other con is that there is TERRIBLE amount of road / tyre noise intruding in the cabin. The Optra is comfortably silent.

The Optra runs it close but I would go for the Corolla.

Thanks for your replies guys.
Although my advice was Corolla, he went for Honda Civic Manual.

Just fell for awesome interiors and the car felt like generations ahead of Corolla. There wasnt much difference in the rear seat comfort too. Only marginally lesser rear legroom, thats it. And the flat bad concept added to the Civic's cause.

Exactly the same reason when I left to get the UNO-D as my first car and ended up with the Santro-DX

Good choice.. I fell for the Civic automatic.

Yes, that's bound to happen, once you had a look at the Civic, its tough to think of anything else. Outside profile of the car, looks, interiors and the drive will definitely change your opinion. And if you test drive the corolla/optra and then the civic within a day or two, you would most probably plonk for the Civic.

My budget was a 9lakh car (NHC, Optra, Fiesta or Aveo) and after seeing the Civic there was no other choice.
