Default pre-owned Baleno vs pre-owned Accent vs ikon flair

Hi,

I am evaluating buying a pre-owned Baleno vs Accent.

I had also considered the ikon, but have ruled it out 'coz of high maintennance costs (spares and service, though some people dispute this) and poor brakes. Can people confirm if these isues are real.

I intend to do an LPG convesion or the car.

Could you please advice between Accent and Baleno.
While I find that the Baleno is getting better reviews, I have the following clarifications.

The Accent has a DOHC engine vs. the SOHC on the Baleno. Some models of the accent also has ABS.

What are the advantages of the baleno over the accent.

Also which car is better on the following parameters:
1) Value for money
2) Fuel Efficiency
3) Maintennance costs
4) Re-sale value

I had also thought about pre-owned Wagon R, but it looks like I get better VFM in going for the Sedans.

go and buy the BALENO. You should get a good deal for an used BALENO, since a new model is on the way.
Don't worry about the spares and maintenence, bacause MARUTI , is always there to serve you.

Pre-owned Accent. Still in production, low maintenance cost.

decide between the ikon and the accent.

safer would be the accent as its cheaper to maintain.

Are you sure about it? I recently started a thread regarding (Are Hyundais cars long lasting?)Old Hyundai cars after one of my friends faced issues with his Accent and most of the owners said, it's hassle free.

While the Baleno is a fav on this forum for obvious reasons, i would like to put in my views on the Ikon Flair which i own.

What model of the Flair are u looking at? Mine is a 2006 Flair, and fuel efficiency is pretty reasonable according to me. Of course, i drive light-footed, and my ride returns city figures which are in the 12-14 kmpl range (50% A/C usage), highway runs returning 16+ kmpl (full A/C), and 18.8 (almost no A/C usage). Brakes arent exactly the best and do not really inspire confidence. As far as maintenace costs are concerned, other long term users can confirm.
Rear seat space and comfort are among the best in its class. Ford makes good driver-oriented cars, and should keep u enthralled.

Just my opinion....

Its true , regarding spares for an IKON being expensive , not only are they expensive they are also dificullt to find as Ford does not sell off the counter and they are not easily available in the open market.

Had a recent eg where my dad had to replace the rear and front bumber because of a minor collision, and the damn things were just not available , finally found the front bumper that too at a premium beleive it or not.. this happened in Delhi.

I would suggest the Baleno , great service and spares should not be an issue while being more fuel effecient as well

All the Best in your hunt for a new car .

For LPG conversion, avoid the Fords. Baleno wins by a mile. Haven't you considered the OHC ?

rohantn,i use a baleno, done 52000km, no problems till date, the only issues you will find ,1.boot space, its lesser than an accent,2.gear shift is rubbery, accent is got smoother shift,3.looks,its quiet outdated compared to accent, but can be spruced up[pls check my gallery].4.interiors r plasticky,[even that can be done up]if these are ok with you baleno would be the right buy..
