If you arent in much of a hurry, may be worth waiting for the Skoda Fabia. From what I've read in various articles it should be launched in the 2nd or 3rd quarter this year, in a price band of 4.5 - 6 L.

Here is the link to the most comprehensive article I've found till date:
Fabia for India! at Straight Frm The Heart

regards,

You can wait for more option or if you are in a hurry you could go for swift without abs as i have abs on most of my cars and i have not found much difference but putting wider tyres will help

but i may point that what i have learnt so far is that abs is a good option to have in case of panic braking

Compared to a wider tire,a slimmer tire loses traction very easily while braking hard. Now, when the ABS kicks in, the brakes are let go (which makes the car stay in motion).

When i drove a Swift ZXi with the 185 tires and ABS, the tires still squealed when braking hard which meant that the car is still under-tyred with the ABS.
The safest combo in the swift is ABS + 195 sized medium/soft compound tires from Yokos/Michelin/GIII,etc...

I suggest you go for the one with ABS. You can then later on go for 195s when your budget permits.

My Advice Go For The Wider Tyre Option.abs Takes Longer Stopping Distance Brother, always Go For Non Abs Version As Long As There Is No Ice On Road At Your Place.

Swift ZDi will be launched as per MUL but currently MUL is looking at the current status and popularity to judge the ZDi launch.

With Maruti launching so many models, any chance they might launch a Swift ZDi?

Replace the stock tyres with 185 Bridgestone GIII rubber and rest assured all your braking concerns would go away...
