Default Toyota Corolla Mar 2007

Hi All,

I have got an offer from my friend having a Black Toyota Corolla H2 1.8E March 2007 model.he has given me quote for RS.7 Lakhs. It's Karnataka registration and i'll be using it in Chennai.
Let me know,
Whether it's a worthy buying a Corollo as only 8 months for a Newer version to be released.
Without changing the registration,is it possible to use it in Chennai with KA-07.if not what is the procedure to change to Tamilnadu registration?
what is the FE in City and Higway with 100% AC on ?
what about *** of toyota and spares ?

Awaiting advises...

In one word, better bought locally than fall into the process of registration change etc.

Changing to TN registration is not a problem. You can do change of address in RC and pay the road tax in Chennai. With this you can drive upto one year. Within one year, you'll need to get the TN registration. You'll need to get a NOC from KA RTO and produce it to Chennai RTO. But, you'll have to pay the re-registration fee and road tax in Chennai. I don't know if KA RTO will refund portion of the road tax that is already paid in KA.

Spares shouldn't be a problem for atleast next 10-15 years i think.

BTW, Why is your friend selling the car so soon?

Plan to upgrade his car.Checking for BMW 3 Series .
I enquired and some refund will be available once we register in some other state RTO.But i am not sure the % of refund.
I am very intersted cos of the less amount i pay for such a huge car.
But i am little confused about its maintenance and FE.

Hi aks_karthik, I drove a 2001 Corolla LE in US for 5 years. It's an amazing hassle-free car. Nobody can beat corolla and Toyota in general in terms of reliability. In 5 years, I had not a single problem with my car, not even a single electrical gadgets like the bulb, A/C etc.

FE : 29-30 miles/gallon roughly 12-13 kmpl within city
37-39 miles/gallon roughly 15-17 kmpl on highways

And remember it was an automatic transmission car. If you are getting a manual transmission car, it will be more fuel economic. If there is no aparent problem, just go for this one year old car. You will never regret. I can guarantee that you will not have to visit the service station anymore except for oil-change at the regular interval and wash.

You have missed out a crucial point ... whats the mileage of the car in odo...
the fuel economy of corolla in city would be around 8-9 kmpl - city and 13-14kmpl on highway
The parts of toyota are very reliable so generally for first three years there shouldn't be much of an issue with maintenance but it all depends on the mileage of the car if the car has done 20000 to 30000 : check out the tyre condition and normal wear and tear parts belts, lines, fuel pumps, AC and so on then go ahead with the buy...

It seem to be a good buy.. Gud luck

hi aks_karthik,
I agree with crosscap, I have a Corolla H5 2006 model. i bought this car second hand when it had just run 7500kms.
As of now, it has run about 25000 kms and the only thing that i do regularily is wash and service.Nothing major...

I can vouch for the Corolla,
Trust me, Just go ahead with it with a complete peace of mind.

My car i.e. 2003 model H2 (manual) after mods gives me an FE ;

In City - 8.5-9.5 km/l
Highway - 11.5-12.5 km/l

(Should be 0.5 km/l > with STOCK rims)
But the FE is entirely dependent on the way you drive.

Quite satisfied with the car , havent had any problems yet.

hi aks_karthik,
I have not tried with 100% AC as the cabin gets cool very quick; so i use the AC just about 50% to say.
In this scenario, I get about 12-13kmpl in City and about 17-18 on the highway..

I quoted the FE with 100% heater on for most of the time. I see people in India is getting less FE with manual stick than my auto version.

7 Lacs is a steal. If the car is accident free well maintained, and changing to TN registration is not too difficult, then better go for it.

H2 onroad price wud be something like 12L in blr..am surprised to find someone ready to sell of a 9 month old corolla for something as less as 7L. Bear in mind that corollas retain their value better than others in the segment and you cannot look at any depreciation more than 20% in a year.
I would agree to the popular view that corolla is more or less hassle-free..and FE is pretty decent too..My view is that you shouldnt be too worried abt FE if you want 125 horses under your feet
