Amongst the three, perhaps Skoda will serve your purpose in terms of FE, comfort. However, Skoda's total cost of ownership is a figure only God Knows.

I'd suggest you look between the Civic and the Laura. The Octavia is now long in the tooth while the Verna is not that competent a machine.

Ahh! the Sonata Embera. I hardly ever see one around and totally forgot about it while recommending you the magnum. Its a good competent car though. Worth a second look and excellent vfm.

Hello All,

There are many threads in what car forum. I am just confused. I went through most of them but not able to make a decision.

I have 15 Lakhs and looking to buy a new car. Which car should i go for.

I am mainly looking for a Good Looking and Reliable car.

Presently the cars i have in my mind,

Skoda Laura,
Honda Civic ( Many on Road and kinda became old )
Optra Magnum

Let me know if there are any other options or should i wait for a any new car coming up.

I want to buy the car by March Ending.

I would vouch for the rear seat comfort of an Embera. Someone known to me bought the first petrol model in Hyd in Aug, 05. I have never sat in an Indian car with so much of knee room (even beats the age old Amby) and shoulder room. It is also super silent.

Honda Civic satisfy these better than any other in your budget.

First, do you want a petrol or a diesel? What's your commute distance like? Or you are not worried about a petrol/diesel?

Also NO way you are going to get a Laura for 15 lakhs. Or where you thinking about a Skoda Octavia L&K or a RS? If you can stretch your budget for a Laura then you might as well consider an Accord !!

If you are looking for a diesel car then the Optra Magnum is a good enough car. You can buy it and have cash to spare so that you can Pete it !! Chevrelot with its maintenance guarantee program has attracted a lot of customers.

I'll not say anything about the skoda Octavia as there's much written about it.

If you want a Petrol then its either the Civic or the Skoda RS. The skoda being more expensive than the Civic and also expensive to maintain. But the RS is a stonker and is awesome to drive.

I own a Civic and its maintenance cost as of now is very low. Even I'm shocked at how cheap it is to maintain it. Reliability and resale are given things with Honda.

Go for the Laura, its the best of the rest IMO. Its relaible and it has better build quality then the rest of the competition.
