planning a new car for 7L

hello comrades,
am planning on buying a new car, petrol only, budget = 7L.
need advice, all suggestions are welcome.

my options are:
1. sx4 - looks are ok, many features, think its best in its class now?
2. verna - NO
3. aveo - no
4. lancer - no
5. NHC - no

or should i wait for:
1. linea (petrol) - any ideas on the launch? pricing?
2. vw_jetta - again, launch/pricing? - VERY INCLINED
3. new elantra - launch/pricing? been reading this hyundai would be better?
4. any other options?

can wait max. till jan-feb. 2009

Hey man, edit the thread title - it says 70k whereas your Budget is 7L!

Most of the cars mentioned in your list of "should I wait for" are probably going to be way over 7 L in any case. If you are inclined towards those, here are a few more -

nah dont want the fiesta, and i own a cedia.

don't i could bump one lakh more, if the jetta comes around 8L
but any ideas when these wheels will hit the market?

well if you are pretty much set on SX4, then its a logical buy..but if you can wait till Jan 2009, then you should surely do as there will be newer and upgrade launches from Honda, Fiat and probably Ford. But again, no way, you can get them under 7 lac

Well , the SX4 would be a good buy-decent power, FE, VFM,and its a Maruti.

The linea, i saw on a t.v. show , would be around 8.5 to 10 lakh.You can stretch your budget a bit , if the car is deserving.It may be launched in June 2008.

The VW Jetta is set to compete with the NHC, so can expect the base and mid models in your budget.

The new Elantra might not be in your budget as its set to compete with the civic and the corolla.

Just wait and watch since you can wait till the next year.

The Jetta won't compete with NHC. Jetta is gonna be priced more than Civic as it is around the world.

Might be true, but googling told me that its prices are gonna be similiar to the NHC, SX4 etc. and they will be competitors.

If you can wait till Jan 2009 then you can go for:-

1. Nex Generation Honda City Expected in Oct '08
2. Fiat Linea Expected in July August '08

Since you can wait for so long I would not advice you to go for SX4 ( inspite of it being a great car).

For 7 lakhs you would get the SX4 VXi isnt it? What are the many features in a Vxi compared to competition?

VW Jetta: Forget about this car for 7 lakhs.

You can wait till Jan/Feb 2009. I would suggest you to wait. There are plenty of better cars coming this year.

Fact that you do not mind waiting for a better set of wheels indicates that you do not take strongly to the sx4, and spending 7L just because there isnt a better option isnt the right thing to do, especially when you can delay the purchase.

The following advice comes to you from an existing sx4 owner, i'd take note.

The Jetta is slated for launch in the later 2008 and can be placed anywhere in the 10 - 14lacs.Sorry, for what i mentioned earlier.

Pretty long wait buddie.There are many launches scheduled already.If you are prepared to wait then its good that we start talking in Nov 2008.Else go for sx4 as it is loaded to the brim and VFM option.

thanks for all the input guys. i guess waiting is the right option.

@esteemer - linea for 8.5-10L? thats exorbitant. think the petrol version should be for 7-8L, whod buy even a diesel version for 10.5L? but it looks very killer. so the jetta is out as its 10L and above. totally out of my budget. feeling bad now.

@manson - i can wait till early 2009, but could buy a car right away. if i have my options sorted out, id know much better what to buy and when. so was thinking about the sx4, had a feeling cars am wishing for, might turn out to be expensive. as we can see, the jetta is out of question now. disheartening.

@karanraheja - nexgen honda city specs/pics?

@amit - i could go for the sx4 zxi, its only 40k up the vxi. not an issue, plus it has climate control, integrated stereo, better ride quality, DOHC.

so as for now waiting is the most logical thing to do, will do that. but still what other cars are scheduled for launch, by early 2009. besides
the jetta, linea, honda city. etc. are there more?
