Default Ford Ikon TDCI or Logan

Hi,
i am in search of a car for quite some time. After lot of deliberations, i have finally managed to freeze down my budget and the type of car. My budget is around 6.5 l. The car has to be diesel as it is going to be my daily drive ~30 kms and weekend car as well. Total kms expected per month - 1500-2000 kms.
I have discarded the following cars:
Dzire - too long a waiting time.
Indigo CS- Old gen engine.

The choice has been narrowed down to 2 cars
Newly launched Ford Ikon TDCi
Logan DLE1.5- base model.

I had considered hatchbacks but by shelling couple of thousands more, if i can get a three box sedan, i would prefer that.
I was also open for a used car but good used diesel cars are hard to come by.
Kindly suggest!!

I suggest you go for Ford Ikon TDCi. I have seen the car y'day and it is same as present ikon. They have changed these things in Diesel ikon:

1) Speedo to digital.
2) Interiors seat and roof colour to Beige.
3) Head lamp assy.
4) FR bumper.

Ford Diesel is much better vehicle compared to its counter parts (diesel vehicles) here in India.

Ford as it is a drivers, would definately recommend this. The OTR in Bangalroe is Rs.6.1Lacs. It will be cheaper in Pune. It has got a proven Engine which is currently running in Fiesta. You can expect a good FE.

The iKon is reasonably loaded (pwr windows, central locking, better interiors, etc.,) than the Logan DLE. The Logan's USP is just space (acres of it) while it carries a taxi perception here in Bangalore.

If you love to drive choose iKon else Logan.

Tez, this one is a rather straightforward decision!
Whats the On-Road price of the base Logan? I am assuming you're looking at the diesel variant.

You can expect good FE from the Ikon TDCI, considering the good efficiency it displayed on the more heavier Fiesta, as well as the Fusion. With the 2 years and 1 lakh kilometers warranty period now being offerred, you can expect peace of mind as well.

Do take a test drive, and then decide. You wont be disappointed.

I would choose the LOGAN. Ford is knwon to bring obsolete technology IMO. Atleast the 1.5 DCi from Logan is current.

Logan is more spacious and more FE than the Ford.

Hi

To be honest with the new Ikon will be VFM. Tried-tested body of Ikon and Tried-Tested brilliant engine of Ford Fiesta.

Lets not forget the fact, the swift Vdi are new in the market, ones they age grown people will truely come to know the cost of spares like we have seen in the case of Accen Crdi.

In terms of Entry level Sedan Ford Ikon with this new engine is 100 times better when compared to other entry level sedan

Fords TDCi engine is actually the state of the art Peugeot Citroen engine (its even used in some Toyotas and its the same engine that comes in UK in the super fuel efficient Fiesta Econetic check Ford :: home) and if you have driven the Swift Diesel, Logan and the Ford, its the most refined and will be for a long time now. The engine is the best among the lot and even better than the ones in Hyundai's in terms of technology and refinement. Ford's Dura series sells the world over and even in USA, they come in a number of displacements and are knows the world over for super economy and technology. Not to mention, every car that ford has made are race bred from day one. If you have driven any of the 3 little sedans that they have sold in India (Escort included), you'll know what I am talking about.

Get your facts right before choosing a Dacia over Ford Europe.

Such an economical, technically the best and also a super drivers car at this price, is the last nail in Logans coffin. DZire was the second last nail

Dude, the TDCi isn't an obsolete engine. It's a state of the art engine with one of the best mileage in the segment.

The new ikon looks macho..I am sure with the 1.4 diesel of Fiesta the car is going to rock, as the kerb weight of ikon is lesser than of Fiesta. I am all for ikon. Logan though a good car has picked up an identity of an ideal cab off lately..no offence to the Logan owners that's my personal opinion

Tez,

Logan is Overpriced; Ikon is value priced.

Logan is spaceous; Ikon is fun to drive.

Logan's service is unrealiable/build quality not upto the mark. Ikon has solid build quality & reasonably good service.

Ikons FE is will be better than Logan.

Now decide for yourself.

Dude, read the technologies offered by different companies and you will come to know which is better. Ford's engine is better any day than Logan and the FE is also good. I can vouch for this and I believe 95% of the tbhians will vouch for this.

Engine to engine comparison, I vote for the Ikon.

As an overall car, I am too confused to give you my recommendation. The warranty is for 2yrs/100,000km. Is an extended warranty in terms of time (3rd and 4th yr) available ? If yes, then go with the Ikon.

tez,
1. Ford Fiesta which is a 8.5 lac car is sharing the engine with its sibling the Ikon which is a 5.2 lac car. The engine is very refined in comparison to verna, logan.
2. The build quality of Ford Ikon is way on par with the Mahindra-Renault Logan.
3. The compromise between ride and especially handling is way better in the Ikon than to that in the Logan.
4. The mileage if Ikon would be around 16-17kmpl in the city I suppose higher of 1kmpl compared to the bigger Fiesta.
5. If you think that an engine which is refined, more powerful, higher mileage,is fitted in a 8 lac car is available to me in a 6 lac car.
6. If you travel 24k a tear you will need a car with good reliability and build quality i.e in the Ikon
7. The looks are subjective but I cannot digest the looks of the Boxy Logan.
8. The features like Power windows, Beige interiors etc will also enhance to the overall feel.

The Ikon 1.4 Diesel it is !! There is no comparison for this proven & very fuel efficient engine. At this price point it is a very good buy. Also the front is & always was appealing. TD both & take a call.

Cheers

I am an absolute layman at this but why not the Indigo Dicor. That is more advance than the CS-Tdi engine and cannot be beaten at the price of around 5.8l on raod in Bangalore.

As of the choice between Fiesta and the Logan, I choose Logan from what I have read.
And then, taxi walas can't go wrong in their choice of car, can they. I guess they see all the parameters like we do. It's just that the parameters may differ.

So what are you looking for, in your car, give it points for the parameters as from the repsonse from t-bhpians for both the cars

-Drivebility
-Engine
-On road price
-Space
-Suspension (comfort)
-Features
-Service
-ICE :-)
-etc
