How about the TATA SAFARI LX?

Went to the showroom today, and the OTR Price is 9,86,000.

You could get figures close to that as they usually claim 30% increase in power with these boxes.

this makes me wonder-

schumacher, are you interested in SUVs? then i strongly suggest you have a look at scorpio mHawk too. pete's has boxes for both scorpio CRDe as well as mHawk.

but handling of both scorpio and safari will be way below sedans. but keeping that aside, i feel you should try the scorpio too. you have driven a sedan for 4 years, now try a SUV... if you please!

Yes, better than Verna in ride and handling, features, almost everywhere, but not in case of A.S & S. and engine. Verna is very powerful as compared to Linea. 90 bhp for such a car is not a perfect combo. Verna wins hands down for performance. The only saving grace Linea has is more linear power delivery as comapred to Verna's turbo lag.

Regarding the power increase, from Swift's 75 bhp stock, pete box raises it to 90. Now even for Lancia, the max they were able to extract was 100 horses from 1248cc. Dont know if pete's box can give more gains. 30% of 90 bhp = 117 bhp approx. This is a very big jump.

I think linea is what I'll go for. 117bhp is sufficient for me for now. raj, i did test drive the scorpio and you are right. The ride quality is nowhere close to a sedan unless i go in for the really expensive suv's. Thank you all. I have been pondering over which car for over 2 months now and its amazing how u guys did the job for me in 2 days. I'll be back here once i get the linea. Hopefully by then, peter should be ready with the box. Also, will you guys know how much I can expect for my 4 yr old 1.6 LS optra. She's black and in great condition with 50,000 kms of mileage.

With some more mods some tuners may take it to 200bhp but we are talking stock cars here.

Go for a Verna AT.

A nice car, good power, Low on maintenance, Comfort of AT.

Dont go for Skoda (Even more service bills) or Linea (for you its underpowered, Dont know about its service bills!).

Hi Schumacher: You seem to be contradicting your love for power by going for the Linea, the lowest power-to-weight ratio sedan out there. Linea: 86 PS/1291kg; Verna: 110 PS/1173kg or Optra Magnum 121 PS/1370kg.

for those who are gunning for LINEA, the guy has already said that he loves power and that he wants a powerful diesel

so i don't think LINEA is the right car to satiate his power desire. for that either the optra or verna suits better.

imo you can go for verna, get better tyres and get it petes box and it should satisfy your desire for power.
