I agree with your views on the white. I'm definitely enticed by it.. But this time, black is also one option I just can't ignore. I am now almost sure it will be the S. I'm quite sure retrofitting all the S stuff on a Zxi is a bad idea. And NO, I can't fit the zxI's headrests on the S. Since the S is one unit.

No worries on this front for at least 2 years.

Pld.don't hesitate to book the S.
S is 70k more for:Airbags,ABS,EBD,skirts, spoiler, alloys.(Airbags ,ABS & EBD cannot be fixed later)

If u r really worried abt the H-Rest & Arm rest, see if you can source the complete rear seat of SXI from A.S.S.

If I'm in ur shoe,I would definitely buy the S & get all the gizmo's of SXI

I went and inquired today. The ZXi costs a lac lesser than the S.
Factor the bodykit and the spoiler: 19k
I want the SXi Premium Chrome Grille: 2.5k
Alloys for the 4 tyres: 20k.

Overall Saving: 59k.

This is PURELY the reason why I feel the ZXi should be the one.
I also get my armrest, headrest and the slightly better looking centre console in an all new camel colour.
I also get an all New speedometer design that is very pretty.
Sorry for the confusion but the Z has me sold!

As for the technical part, I spoke to the FORD Service Engineer today. And he said that there is a separate software for the ECU of the S and ONLY the springs have been stiffened. It's ok. I think I can live with slight bluntness if my car can look like the S and ride like a Z.

Don't massacre me, but its a family car. And the S is hard edged. Like the interiors of the Z better than the S, except for the soft finish on the dashboard (which is present ONLY on the s and sxi)

@ramsagar: only Airbags is what I might miss. ABS+EBD present on the ZXi

@ gs: thank you for the photo shop design!

A new kind of metal finish, but slightly beigish. Looks better than pure silver.

I doubt it. The new Ford Fiesta is headed for Indian shores next year. Got this news from a friend who works for Ford, though it's not going to be the better looking hatchback but the ugly back, sedan.

here's the thing guys.
we just sat and did the math. finalized this now:

We have decided against the S for reasons known to all of us, but something along those lines is what I have worked out:

The Fiesta S was working out to be Rs. 8,28,000 on road.
The Fiesta ZXi is working out to be Rs. 7,35,000 on road.

That makes a difference of almost one lac.

Now, the ZXi will be given a body kit and the spoiler (the original company fitting) and the chrome grille from the SXi.

This entire extra fitting will cost me Rs. 21,500.

I will be fitting aftermarket alloys (since ZXi doesn't come with any) for about Rs. 22000 for 4 wheels.

The seat covers (which come on the S but not the ZXi, which comes with slightly dull fabric which begs to be covered!) will cost me about Rs. 8000.

THUS, for a figure of Rs. 780,000, I have a Z that:

-- Has a softer ride (i wanted that over the hard edged S' ride), but will handle blunter too. People say, the ECU's are mapped too, but I guess I can live with a slight drop if I can mix pleasure with some amount of comfort for the others in the family.

-- has the center armrest and adjustable headrests found only on the Z

-- Has better aftermarket alloys (much better ones, will be going for a reputed brand like Konig or Lenso)

-- Has the beige interiors as opposed to the slightly drab dark interiors of the S.

-- Has better seat covers than the S (of course, I shall be getting good art leather covers from the studio that draped my Esteem beauuuuuutifully)

-- Has the body kit and spoiler from the S, and the super sexy chrome grille from the SXi premium.

-- Has all the other features that the S has, other than the sport pedals and the airbags.

That's a good 50 odd k saved. And I get whatever I wanted from the S.
The Airbags will be sorely missed. But I hope I never get to rue that decision.
The Sport Pedals are also beautiful. But I can make these 2 compromises for about 50k.

ABS will be present. So that safety aspect is also not sacrificed.
In all, the Z looks a better deal than the S, without sacrificing what I really wanted on the car.

Another expense that was already coming on the S, will be also made with the Z, and that is Michelin PP2's. But this time they will be 14's.
Ishan will give me the correct upsize, and I shall adhere to that.

Reason for keeping 14's is
1. Keeping ride quality in mind.
2. In this PCD, there are more designs for alloys available in 14" than 15".

Thus the logical choice is 14"

ALL SAID AND DONE, Wednesday I book my black/white Z.
Period!

You can get the sports pedal for 2230/-. The only thing that you will miss are the airbags.

Thank you Abhinav. Delivery will be at the end of this month. OR MORE, considering that Ford is known to make false delivery promises.

Also, I would like someone to link me to the
1. How to check the year and month of manufacture
2. List of the COMPLETE PDI that I have to do before registration and delivery.

Any other stuff comes to mind, please fill me in on that too.

As for the pedals, GS, they are slightly expensive. But will try stretching for these. Love them totally!

Congrats buddy.
Why can't you opt for the missing sports pedal form S?
Go for Black, since you have many whites in your stable. But difficult to maintain.
