| I am planning to get a new car in the New Year and narrowed down the options to i20 CRDI ASTA and MANZA Ara+ Quadrajet. I had a look at the forums and no comparison between the two. I know you will ask me to decide between a sedan and hatchback first. But it doesn't really matter for me. I need a family car that
I20 - Pros Style Powerful Engine Interior finish i20 -Cons Poor backseat comfort luggage space MANZA - Pros Space, Space, Space Big boot Blue 5 MANZA - Cons Tata Sales Support Unproven reliability I am almost inclined towards MANZA but not really sure about the reliability of this car. My wife will be using the car 50% of the time. Please share any thoughts on these or if I have missed any crucial points to be considered. It will also be nice to get some expert opinion on After sales and support of Huyndai and Tata in Cochin. Many thanks in advance. |

| BHPian | Manza has good interiors and lots of space. I have not driven it yet, so I cannot comment of the engine. But, its same as in Linea. It should be good. I am a fan of i20. I have driven one. Though, not as quick as verna or Getz CRDi, its still quick. Some turbo lag is there. It will offer you some extra features like electrically foldable ORVMs, curtain airbags, sunroof (optional) over manza. Boot size is decent (Definitely not comparable to Manza). I would choose i20. I am not a huge fan of Manza's looks. Front is fine, rear is not that good. |

| Senior - BHPian | Should not this be in the "What car" section than in the Indian car scene? |

| I dunno, speaking for myself I would have gone for the i20 or better still the Punto over the Manza. If you wont be using the boot much, my choice would be the i20. |

| BHPian | I agree with extreme_torque. Why dont you TD a top of the line Emotion+ Punto MJD. I would be going for Punto. It looks smashing in red. |

| As your wife will also be using the car, I would say to for the Hyundai i20. As Sumit pointed out, you could also consider the Punto Diesel (emotion PK) which has all the features including the Blue & me and is much cheaper than the i20. If rear seat comfort and boot space is what you are looking for then nothing can beat the Manza. PS- mods please shift this thread to "What car" section. | i20 is definitely a good hatchback with all sophasticated features loaded. Ofcourse there is a competition between Punto and i20 but as far as the A.S.S are concerned i20 scores better. This is qutie compact car and your wife will love to drive easily/comfortably. However if you are space conscious (5 people on board with lot of luggages)then better for for a sedan. Manza seems good car (as per the test drive reports) but it is newly introduced and ownership experiences are yet to be reported.? |

| I would say:Manza it is. I would not find too much difference in a i20CRDI and a Manza given spec-wise they are almost the same.I would say a bit of a difference in the top speed because the i20 is a hatch. Turbo lag is not an issue in the manza (from personal experience as well as lots of opinions on GTO's manza test drive thread) I test drove an i20 sometime back and was very disappointed with the steering feel. The car feels dead to drive and extremely insulated.Any car needs to communicate _something_ back to the driver.I think the turbo lag is also an issue. Over a long term there's not much to choose between the two that you'll really notice, but if space and ride quality and cost of maintenance are factors that you would consider , go for a Manza. The i20 in contrast feels rather claustrophobic. My wife was cribbing throughout our test drive. We have an Indica , mind you.The interiors are expected to be that much better on the i20.They are'nt. The i20 has also not been in the market long enough to be a "tried-and-tested" car. From the amount of testing that has gone into the manza , I think it was mentioned that Tata has done about 25 lakh Kms on it. All the above is my subjective personal opinion."Feel" wise, the i20 dosen't score on my list at all. Last edited by rpmx1000 : 30th November 2009 at 11:07. Reason: readability |

| Senior - BHPian | Go for the Manza. The i20 is a hatch and it remains that. Manza gives you space, a boot, and very good value for money. The i20 CRDi is a brilliant car and a very smart looking one too BUT it's too pricey in my opinion. |

| Senior - BHPian | I would first recommend a petrol vehicle than a diesel version. If you are more inclined towards diesel then my heart goes for i20. TD putno & Linea as well. I personally regret Manza. Sorry this is not to offend anyone. |

| All your requirements point to only one car ... Indigo Manza. I dont know what price range you are looking at but assuming that it is 6-7 lakhs, Manza seems the best choice. |

| Thanks for the input guys, sorry for the wrong section. I did consider Punto initially, it was good with the Diwali offer. Now no offers and they were talking about a price hike soon. For 50K difference I will go for i20 compared to Punto. Regarding MANZA's looks its good from front and side, for real looks a spoiler might do the work to distract eyes! I will wait till end of December to get any feedback on MANZA. |
