Well it seems a fairly old article..Lets see how it pans out and how Nissan changes their startegy. I`m just hoping for a killer VW passat pricing for the 1.8 TSI passat. Any idea on the Delhi pricing for the same

Thumbs up Ok I shall break my silence

Today April 1st 2010, I have booked the 2.0 CRDi Jetta MT Comfortline. Would soon be adding this in the I Booked My Car thread. There is some news from VW as well which I would like to share with you.

1. The DSG box is being upgraded and hence only manual transmissions will be available now. The upgraded box will take some time to come to India since it will first go to the Western countries.

2. The VW Passat is around 21.xx lakh on road with the 1.8TSi engine and will be available in MT. Today it had gone for RTO approval so couldn´t get to test it. Tomorrow or the day after if they are open, I shall go and test ride it.

3. The Jetta 2.0 CRDi MT Trendline is priced at Rs.16.02 lakh on-road, 14.26 lakh ex-showroom

4. The Jetta 2.0 CRDi MT Comfortline is priced at Rs.17.86 lakh on-road, 15.92 lakh ex-showroom

Next post after test driving the Passat 1.8 TSi.

Are these prices going to be game changers for Altis/Civic? High time Toyota/Honda come out with diesel options. Looks like the German vs Japanese war has started.

Per your earlier posts you are going to be in the back seat for quite a few days of the week. If you are any taller than 5'8" or 5"9" at the most ignore the Jetta. After that IMHO I would go with the Teana simply for the Auto Box to handle the DLF-GUR-DEL traffic.

Which is cheaper? Passat DSG or Superb DSG? I would go for a Superb, would be a no-brainer for me. Looks better, has better road presence and resales, plethora of gadgets. Passat looks really dated :(

Well according to your list,I rather suggest you cancel out Nissan Teana cause My cousin owns one and the maintenance is the biggest hassle. Same as in the case of Skoda.

the only options are Jetta and Passat.

If given to compare side by side
For comfort: Passat rules over Jetta as it has has the most luggage room , shoulder room and legroom.

For technology:both the cars all well equipped with similar kind of gadgets and gizmo's so not much to compare.

For safety:Both sedans have four-wheel antilock disc brakes with brake assist and stability control, as well as a full set of airbags.

Overall the Passat is a bit more expensive at around 20 lacs whereas the Jetta comfortline comes for 18 lacs. The Jetta gets better fuel economy. The Passat looks more elegant. So I would suggest that you go for the Jetta as it has a good overall value.
