I did not use the cable release. Put it on timer. The mirror wasn't locked. Could be one of the reasons..
Most entry level tripods cannot stabilize long lenses(esp heavy ones) without mirror lockup enabled. Which tripod do you use?

Still OT. It was a reference to Transformers3-Dark of the Moon.

Thanks for posting the wonderful sequence of shots. Missed the eclipse completely as it was cloudy at night, so slept off.

Now a days weather changes between sectors in Gurgaon, so while people call me that its raining at home at sector 4, Sector 55 is high and dry

But I think you took too many long exposures that might have added to blur, Due to movement of earth.

I kept my shots to 2 sec max and pumped by ISO a bit when eclipse was increasing. Used Remote Cord and Tripod and first time used Mirror Lock

Also I did little sharpening in CaptureNX

GD sir, long exposure shots of the moon actually burns all the details you'd want to capture. Did you spot meter to see what shutter was needed for the moon's brightness or directly chose to keep it for longer exposures?

I could see the moon through some fast moving clouds right upto the 11.15 but then suddenly it clouded over and started pouring. :(

Tanveer, I use a Bilora Profilo Autostop 4165. It is a very old Tripod got from Germany sometime in 1987.

I also have a Vivitar 914 tripod and that too is quite old.

Thanks Amol for the input. I realised this quite late. I did spot meter but didn't follow its readings. Directly chose long exposure. Completely forgot to account for the planetary movement..
