Question Help with musical instrument

Guys,

Can someone identify this musical instrument (from 50 second onwards). It does not look like electric guitar - does it?

Its a "Hawaiian guitar", which is played with a metal piece in hand to move over the strings.

Source - Lap steel guitar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The lap steel guitar is a type of steel guitar, an instrument derived from and similar to the guitar. The player changes pitch by pressing a metal or glass bar against the strings instead of by pressing strings against the fingerboard.

No way its a lap steel guitar.

That's a horribly recorded electronic crap.

It is a lap steel/slide guitar, you can search the artist name. He's not a neophyte either.

It does sound horrible, that's due to the mastering and not the instrument

Thank you guys. For some reason i love this instrument. It has a nostalgia attached to it - remember used to listening to 80s and 90s Bollywood instrumentals using this guitar on the All india radio.

Why is the audio not working for me?
:(

In any case - if this sounds the same as the filler material that used to play in AIR in between their programs - then it is fo'sho' the Hawaian Guitar.

Of course you can play the slide even on a regular guitar!

Sorry couldn't help with the clip - can't hear it.

+1 its Lap steel guitar also known as Electric Hawaiian guitar. I learnt playing it during my school days so can't go wrong with this.

^ +1. It is the Indian electric Hawaiian guitar - a distant relative of the Slide / Steel / Lap / Hawaiian guitar. The person playing that clip is Kazi Arindam, whose father Kazi Aniruddha used to be a virtuoso guitarist himself, in the same generation as Sunil Ganguli, S. Hazara Singh, Van Shipley etc. Kazi Aniruddha's father was the famous Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam!

It is a simple electric guitar and not a Hawaiian guitar.

Default Musical instrument help : SANTOOR

Dear friends could you please share information on the kind of SANTOOR available in India and where is the best place to buy them and what price and model options available?

Is it safe to buy online with direct bank deposit of full payment while ordering? How safe would be the Santoor during transit due to mishandling by courier guys who usually throw packages and never place it right way?

Please suggest places to get it online.

Regards, San.
