Default Email saying Team-BHP Account Locked? Don't worry - see pg 3

Here I am logged in and posting. Got a mail from Team-Bhp

Quote:
Dear Sheel,

Your account on Team-BHP has been locked because someone has tried to log into the account with the wrong password more than 5 times. You will be able to attempt to log in again in another 15 minutes.

The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 141.105.65.70
Please look into it and do the needful.

Why would someone wish to use my account?
EDIT:
Got the same e-mail again. As a precaution have changed my password.

Not again. A new IP address 141.105.65.130

Woah! That's scary!

Is it possible to trace the culprit?

Perhaps security for members needs some beefing-up. How about email-like security? Answer a personal/private question, or something like that. I wouldn't want my account hacked and fake posts being put up under my handle. No one would want that. Has it happened before?

What happens if the account is hacked? How easily can one recover an account that has been hacked?

Default Team-BHP Account Locked

I got 3 mails saying someone tried to access team-bhp account using wrong password. All 3 with different IP address as below:

141.105.65.70
186.205.41.251
120.203.1.250

is that real hijacking attempt or prank email?

This is basically an automated bot trying to gain access to your profile, similar to how they try & gain access to your gmail / hotmail account. The purpose is simple : (Presumably) to post marketing & spam links on the forum.

That said, please ensure:

- That you choose a strong password. Ideally, it would have a mix of CAPS / Non-cap alphabets, special characters (*&*&"&""$) and numbers. Keep it atleast 15 - 18 characters long.

- Do keep your computer operating system fully updated, and supported by a good anti-virus software (I recommend Kaspersky).

Looks like some wannabe bhpian's are trying to hack in. Is it like a Brute-Force attach? Do we have some preventive measures for such a scenario? How many attempts were made?

This is serious, hope folks have strong non dictionary passwords.

2. 85.132.19.219 (Prague)

My account too was tried twice:

1. 93.125.93.13 (Minsk - Belarus)
2. 85.31.76.98 (Baghdad - Iraq)

I suggest the hack attempted members to change their passwords immediately.

All the IP's have international location. It ain't a prank, someone is trying to hack in for real.

All you folks ensure your password ain't the same as your e-mail/facebook. Ensure you have at least one numeric, one capital letter in your password.

Is the support team notified of this?
