Default Mumbai-Pune E-way to be extended to Sion circle

If the MSRDC and government are serous about this plan, then regular commuters between navi mumbai and mumbai are in for a road treat come december 2008. MSRDC has proposed 14 laning of the Panvel Sion stretch and the expressway will be extended till Sion circle!

Quote:
Out of the 14 lanes, five will be dedicated to traffic, with three for Pune-Mumbai and two for local traffic on each side. The other two lanes will be used for service roads and footpaths,’’ Karandikar said. He said that three flyovers would come up at Kamothe, Santara and Uran junctions.

This is great!!! It will cut the travelling time by a lot since the only problem area when going/coming to/from Mumbai is actually trying to leave/enter Mumbai which is a pain during traffic hours.

Stratos ,

remember the solution i gave u for solving chemburs traffic problem ? build a flyover from suman nagar to anushakti nagar for vashi/pune/goa/alibaug traffic. the rest who want to go into chembur can continue below the flyover (old route)

A good proposition. One of the main issues, though, is that, where will they elevate it (no space on level ground), coz there are transmission lines crossing over the highway, near Suman Nagar.
