Bullit - Mustang Vs GTO (never mind the fact that 7 hubcaps rolled of the GTO)
Ronin
Fear is the Key (old Alistair McClane based movie)
For your eyes only - Citroen 2CV vs Peugeot 504
Tomorrow Never dies - BMW 7 in action
The BMW films - ambush, chosen, star, ticker

P.S. BMW films were a series of short films... i dunno if it qualifies here... but since its so good i think it pretty much makes do for the rest.

Some notes about the Ronin chase scenes – have the original DVD where you can select the director’s comments and he narrates the film

All actors involved were made to go on a high speed course to get used to the speeds, g-forces etc.

First chase – Audi S8 getaway

Car driven by Jean Pierre Balestre – an ex French GP driver – car did speeds of 200km/h in Paris streets. They were amazed with its traction during the power slides

Second chase approaching Marseille

Two Audi S8’s were used- you will see the headlights repairing themselves. The

Mercedes was added as a “hero support” car as it is a favourite of the director- note it never gets damaged.

First Peugeot flips over with a hidden pyrotechnic under the rear axle (not the mortar fire). The Merc took a risk and drove around it.

Marseille chase scenes were at around 160km/h, the director was in the car during filming

In some of the scenes – the Audi is chained to the Citroen to ensure a close chase

Final chase across Paris

At least three sets of cars used – the actors were made to be in the car at speed to get the actual express of fear.

Some of the cars were RHD with the actor steering a dummy steering wheel.

One set of cars had part of the body and roof chopped to film the driver and passengers together. These were again driven at speed and were towed - ------wait for it GTO! ---- By Merc W124 E500’s

The sounds of the cars were captured actually noting the gear and engine speed of the car and then recreating the driving on a track with recording equipment.

The scene in the tunnel, going the wrong way, was done at 50km/h; the cars were spaced fairly widely

The four wheel drift done by the Peugeot is regarded as one of the best according to the director

Boy – a lot of work which I would love to do

Ronin has to be the best.
I haven't seen Italian Job.
Best cars in a chase? That'll have to be the F40 and Diablo in Joshua Tree.

Not a car chase, but Al Pacino gets pulled over while driving a Ferrari in "Scent of a woman". Great scene.

'Italian Job' and 'Gone In 60 Seconds'.
I like the drag race in 'The Fast and The Furious'. B/w Supra and Mustang(isn't it). Like the car wheelie stuff best. !!
