Default Tribute to Two Pop Icons, the Late Donna Summer and Robin Gibb!

It feels so unusual to prefix the names of these two icons of the disco era with "Late".
The world of Western Pop Music has been badly impoverished with the passing away of these two icons coincidentally at ages 63 and 62 on the 17th and 21st of May 2012. Again, sadly, both died of cancer. The pop music charts from the mid 1970's till the early 1980's will feature both these icons at Number 1 and Top Ten positions (Donna Summer as a solo artiste and Robin Gibb as a member of Bee Gees) from the US and UK and also many other countries, with several pop hits. The disco era reached its zenith rather due to the contributions by these two icons.Anything they touched turned into gold. Donna Summer passed away due to lung cancer (she never smoked as her spokesperson highlighted after her death). She was aptly called the "Queen of Disco" and has to her credit a string of monster hits.
Robin Gibb of the pop group The Bee Gees, passed away due to colon and liver cancer. The Bee Gees are the most known for their compositions in the film "Saturday Night Fever".The film apart, they also have many, many hit singles and albums."Massachusetts" is a soothing ballad so beautifully composed.
Robin Gibb's twin brother Maurice passed away in 2003.The youngest Andy who sang solo hits had died in 1988, at age 30. The only surviving member of the Bee Gees is now Barry Gibb, the eldest of them all, aged 65. Their mother Barbara aged 92,who lives on has seen three of her sons pass away. Sad!
