I would say the Fevi Quick or elfy or any 10 second glue will do the job. But application must be minimal, else it will trickle on the plastic and get shabby. They are usually available for Rs.10 a pkt or so.

I usually scrape the areas to be glued mildly. This allows for easy bonding with very little glue. Then I touch it up in the final finishing with paint again. Else, like you mentioned the glue is too hard on the paint and plastic.
