As for my advice, I have not given any advice regarding anything, all I am saying is do not take a laymans advice.

I don't see anyone prescribing medicines here or doling out medical advice; doctors don't know manure about bodybuilding or supplements anyway. They're taught to heal sick people and to not make people bigger, stronger and faster!
So somebody with no medical background is more of an expert than somebody who studied medicine and affect of various chemicals on the human body.
I know a lot of well built villagers who say "Desi Ghee" has no harmful effects on the heart. They are well built. So their advice is better than the heart specialist.
There are many smokers who do not die of lung cancer, so we can take their advice too and start smoking for losing weight, right?

The next time you start a sentence like that, think whether you know the person involved on an hourly basis, whether you know exactly what they're doing, eating, and drinking. If you start telling people "Don't take an aspirin, you could get sick" you better know what you're talking about.

Its best to get medical advice from a doctor.
Do not treat your body like a car. Taking a laymans advice on your car can atmost cause some financial loss, but taking such advice for your body can cause death and serious damage.
For example most laymen don't know that excess of protein/chicken(even boiled) can cause gout(though this problem is rarer in women),
We're all speaking from experience here. I think all of us have the common sense to understand, that when we ask a bodybuildong question in team-bhp.com/shifting-gears, we are going to get non-proffessional, layman speak, bro-science.

Speaking of laymen, please be sure about ANYTHING you talk about before posting it. I've been consistantly consuming 4 to 6kg of chicken/mutton every week for more than 16 straight weeks.

DISCLAIMER: I do not use fat-burners, nor ever will, unless competing professionally.

Hi, tsk, I think you're confusing bodybuilders and fitness athletes with pehelwans, which would be funny under different circumstances. The former do not consume upwards of a kilo of dairy fat every day.

What the ...? This is a pro-nutrition/workout/fitness thread and most of us are very interested in it. I'd love to hear a reason why any of us should be saying anything negative about nutrition or workouts when that 1 hour is probably the best time we spend on our bodies. I can see that you have an axe to grind by refuting to something so pointless in such manner, so please keep the laughs coming.

Vikram, honest question here, if you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

In all this discussion, it's you who's the layman, spouting off an irrelevent anecdote as proof that somehow, all supplements are bad. Most of us have been doing this for years. Reading up on it, trying it ourselves, asking people more knowledgeable than us, etc.

Anecdote is not the singular form of data. And correlation does not imply causation.

When did anyone ever call himself an expert? Money is spent on research, whitepapers of those research studies are available. People read those papers and decide for themselves. Or you recommend ignorance to everyone who doesn't have a piece of paper calling himself a doctor?

nu⋅tri⋅tion [noo-trish-uhn, nyoo-] –noun

1. the act or process of nourishing or of being nourished.
2. the science or study of, or a course of study in, nutrition, esp. of humans.
3. the process by which organisms take in and utilize food material.
4. food; nutriment.

What exactly can I say in a negative light about nutrition or working out, without casting serious doubts upon my IQ, is way beyond me. Maybe you can enlighten me.

I have NEVER recommended a single supplement. Please make sure of your facts before spouting nonsense. I have always suggested what, to me, appear to be BETTER supplements, and only when asked! If you go through this thread in it's entirety, you'll see my view on supplements. Once again, be VERY careful of what you accuse me of. Being a moderator does NOT give you the right to make false accusations.
I have always listed the pros and cons of supplements in order to enable a user to make an INFORMED choice!

Why would I mind? A long list of passions actually. I've run a bakery (certification in bakery and confectionary), was into e-learning and language QA (M.A. Lit), bred, trained and showed champion dogs (patron member of the Goa Kennel Club), taught windsurfing and sailing (voluntary), minor copywriting, etc. and am currently setting up a nutrition and fitness consultancy (certified fitness trainer and SPM, ISSA). Whew, I've had fun

I think its about time we doused the flames here. Wont get us anywhere, the Argument about supplements will go on and on. I use ON 100% and curse the fact that i bought it. Ugh, Myofusion i come next. Ps. Compared to On, i like elite better, same quantum on protein, lesser carbs. I got ON 2 LB for 1.8k But that was in Alfa

People have been talking about the same thing for the last 5-7 pages Read back, there are many options and better alternatives. Never heard of "team-bhp whey" though, what does it contain? engine oils, pistons and camshafts? lol

yeah lets stop bickering over a common right path for all - each person has a specific right path for them - some take supplements all the time, some take proteins in moderation, some take supplements at different points of their life when they need a bit of push, some don't. At the end of the day if it works out for you, great - share with others your experiences and with a sane head they can adapt the knowledge on this thread for their good

whilst going to Def Col Market from ring road side, just before you take the right to the mkt, theres a shop on the left (before the stop light). they have web presence too. and decent pricing if you know whats what. no great variety though.

Do share your protein experiences, would help alot.

Obviously the sarcasm was lost on you. I just copied pasted the entire comment by you, and just pasted it.
As for accusations, the post I quoted in my first post was not by you.
Bu that moot

Good to know that! I was always thinking it was either some layman commenting on heresay, or some person who is involved in business, and more people by, better for him.
So I take back my eariler comment. Peace?
Anyways I have a query, from past some time, every time I do shoulder or upper back weights, my neck starts to hurt.
Any strenous activity like long driving, or anything demanding on the neck(looking in one direction for long) makes my neck pain and be uncomfortable. I take a very thin pillow while sleeping, and have no qualms of letting it go if it helps?
Your suggestion?

Yes, do lose the pillow and invest in a decent mattress. I'm in the same boat. Get a massage every now and then. and go easy on the weight rack.

The mattress is hard kurl-on. I had a slip disk few years back, and this type of hard mattress helped a lot, and I hardly get back pain now. But this neck pain thingy is new.
