So it is Brazil v Chile on 28th at 21:30 and Netherlands v Mexico on 29th at 21:30. Damn, I was supposed to travel on 29th, now have to cancel and travel the next day. World Cup comes first

The Chile vs Netherlands match was a thriller. IMO the Chileans were unfairly treated when a couple of penalty chances were not give. Clearly the Duthc were playing like a pack of goons whereas the Chileans looked like a pack of wild dogs. Fantastic match.

I am sure Brazil must be buoyed by yesterdays thumping win over Cameroon but if they under estimate Chile then they are out of the tournament.

Brazil were never a strong defense team. You can be sure that they will let in a goal against Chile. They have to rely on attack to see them through to the quarters. By the way Chile is playing, its not going to be easy for Brazil.

Agreed! The way they allowed Cameroon to score their goal demonstrated this. The defenders simply did nothing to anticipate and intercept the cross.

Their defensive play must improve - otherwise they'll get punished by stronger opponents.

Actually the Cameroonians fought like lions...especially the Mr T lookalike in goal. Pulled off at least 3 great saves or the scoreline would have looked much worse!

And the Cameroon defense was pathetic in my opinion. I could see lot of free space and Brazil did utilize most of them; clearances also were pretty average that Brazil even scored from one. This might not be the case with Brazil's next opponent.

Another European "frontrunner" eliminated.
Suarez bites a player of the opposite team again. (3rd offence)

Yawn!!! Why am I not surprised?

I think Suarez deserved a red card for his stupidity. Replay clearly shows he bit an Italian player!

One of my all time favorites are out. Referee 1 Italy 0. Though they deserved an exit playing defensively; their main striker Balotelli can't even keep a ball in control; leave alone shooting on target. Feel bad for Prandelli, who didn't have much options than to take such players. Ironically, Italy who sent England home gets to reach home a bit earlier than England!

But sad to see the last of Gigi Buffon, a real hero. He alone has saved his country's face so many times. And not even once he gets arrogant; he just pushes himself. Super reflexes, gets up from the ground real quick after a save, motivates the team, is pleasant, and doesn't have any of the antics and drama many of his teammates posses. More than that, he played his heart out.

This was what ushered me into the world of a black and white ball:

If anyone's bothered with the Ivory Coast Greece match, it has one of the most biased referees around.

Every tackle by Ivory Coast is a foul, and every tackle by Greece is legit.

Thats what you have fangs for isnt it? The worst is he shrugs off the issue by saying its part of the game. Yeah sure it has to be then Hannibal/Cannibal game.

The surprise team is Columbia having won all the 3 games convincingly.

Wow, now Italy go out! Disappointed but I guess they had it coming with the way they played yesterday. The strikers seems to have completely lost it. Pirlo was probably the only one who looked like doing something in the dying minutes of the game.

Some of the greats of the game are having a rather harsh last World Cup.

Spain
: Good to see them go out on a high. Their style of play was mesmerizing. Sad to see David Villa go :(

Who is my favorite now: I hope Holland wins it. They have been playing an incredible game. But beating Brazil this time is going to take some effort.

Off Topic: How many of you are seriously disappointed with the post match review on Six? I find it atrocious.

Glad to see Italy go. If there is another team I hate more, it has to be England. Both out. Me happy.

Nice to see that you still keep the collection. Brought back some memories. Van Basten, Gullit....those were the days!
