Hey Alaap,

no need to stake your reputation over some free software man...lol!!

I don't pretend to know as much as you on the inner workings of the web (and I'm really the least bit interested!). I'm happy with crazybrowser, does everything that firefox claims to do, but seeing your complete fascination for firefox, I'm gonna give it a try!

Will post after trying it out.

I also like Internet Explorer because of its integration with Windows Media Player 10 Series AND MSN Music.

MSN Explorer was sooooo good when it was free.......I guess that was when I was using Windows 98
Nope, i just log in with my hotmail id and password and it works. LOL

It's good bcoz the email button getz me to my hotmail inbox, i have all the saved sites in my fav list, it automatically starts MSN messenger and it loads pages faster than IE or Netscape.

Those who are die-hard fans of IE should give this add-on browser a try - Maxthon - it WILL change the way you surf the web.

so I just tried out firefox. Its not too bad, but I don't see any advantages over what I'm currently using. Much better than opera or Netscape though, but then i guess we all get used to what we use!

Hey GTO, i have heard that Opera users are not able to open gmail. Is that true? I think its somethin to do with Opera not supporting ActiveX as its not free source.

RTech, well, i had a look at the CrazyBrowser website. The browser is quite similar to FireFox and feature-wise, there isnt much to separate the two . But IMHO, the only point where FireFox takes the lead would be the support for FireFox. FF is backed by the Open Source community, which ensures that if ever there is an attack on the FireFox browser, a fix would be made available even before the attack reaches you.
Currently, the main reason that these browsers, like FF, CrazyBrowser etc are free from attacks is that their users are very less in number and hackers just dont see it worth their effort to write worms/virii for these browsers yet. But once the use of these browsers reaches a certain mass, be sure that the hackers will turn their attention towards these browsers. And thats when the Open Source backing for FireFox will come in handy.

Amitoj,

Dont know about Gmail since I dont use it. But yes, there are some sites (like webshots.com) which Opera cannot open. I use the regular explorer for those kinda sites.

The reason I got hooked on to the Opera is that I use a 1680 x 1050 widescreen and on the regular explorer...the fonts are too small to read. Opera gives me the option to magnify a screen, and not just the fonts (Its currently set on 150% size). Then of course, the familiarity of using it for a year.

So I guess we should hope they don't become popular enough to tempt someone into making a worm for 'em eh!

Opera 7.0. Fast, easy to use and very user friendly. Downsides are that it doesn't open Gmail, mercedesbenz.com and a few other sites.

What i like is the way it handles multiple windows. Very uncluttered and simple.

Hey,

Well im using Opera 7.54 right now.... the main reason being the fact that you can zoom an entire page (not just increase font size like in IE).
Like GTO, i have the same laptop but with the 1920x1200 screen... so my default is set to 120% zoom...makes a huge difference and saves my eyes.

However i am forced to use IE for stuff liek gmail etc that dont open in opera.... i guess i would have given mozilla firefox a try if i wasnt aldready familiar with opera.

cheers
