But..Harish Tomar, The driver can really do it..! Man this guy is amazing..He should be called for Shabaash India and Also Limca book of records should include him...The Icing should be that TATA should gift him a new car...thanks to all the publicity TATA is getting..Poor guy drove others car's all his life...should get one of his own now...! But I hope this does not encourage our young brats to try these stunts..After Dhoom, We have had enough DODO Bikers doing wheelies.

He does it with his legs..!

Just happened to watch the aaj-tak special. This guy is really amazing. Will serve as a good brand ambassador for the indica ...
' Itsss so easy to drive an Indica, you need'nt even be on the Driver's Seat! '
IMHO, the anchors were pathetic n making fools of themselves.

Way to go!!!

we were at our fortnightly team-bhp meet when moralfibre gets a call twice about this braking news from his friends!!!!!!

i mean its not bad to show a little humour on news, but all this on national news.. and that too "BREAKING NEWS"

strange but true
And why haven't the police acted yet? Surely this is illegal and endangers other road users. They have all the evidence needed to nail the owner/driver.

I don't know the law precisely, but I am certain that this is a major violation. If you want to modify your car so that the controls are taken away from the driver's seat, that has to be approved by the authorities (and definitely will not). As you pointed out, it is not desirable to have copycats who will try to pull off something similar and endanger others on the road. The police need to come down heavily on the owner/driver -- seize the car and check it for illegal modifications, and demand an honest explanation for what happened.

Legally the Violation could be.. "the driver reading news paper while driving"... come on you can't use a mobile phone.... and this guy reading the news paper... .. its a violation...

The police has to put charges on the driver for violation of traffic rules.
Instead of news channels making him a hero his licence must be cancelled permanently...

@ Rks..! It has been proved LIVE on Aaj Tak that, the car was not modified in any way, No extra pedals, No backseat controller, No Microchip remote control whatsoever...Suggest you had rather watched the program...It was freaky...! The driver Harish tomar then showed how he manages to do this feat...He slips his legs over to the driver side, while twisting his torso straight which makes it appear that he is in a straight posture. He then engages the gear and moves ahead, occassionally adjusting the steering wheel...He also says that he gets the car aligned and wheels balanced on a regular basis which enables him to move straight without any leering. Also the Indica D was Power Steering..!

Now about my friends who say he should be arrested and his DL be cancelled, Reading newspaper while driving is an equal offence as listening to Music while driving...The mind is diverted in both cases...Talking on cell phones is an offence but do you stop doing it while driving...Ya Ya..Go on the cop is no where in sight and You do it..! Modification of Car's is not allowed legally so arrest all who got engine mods, Nos,cosmetic mods...! Sounds over 128 + Db is not permissable by Law,,,So throw that Low Bass Tubes, Those Hi-Fi HU and Amps..! Getting a DVD player on the dashboard or having tinted glasses are all banned..So how many of us adhere to it..!

Law has no clearly defined rules at least in this case, However for Tinted glasses and loud sound and Modification rules are clearly defined, So it calls for another campaign to change these law's..!

However Mr.Tomar should be asked not to do such a thing on Public roads as it freaks other drivers out..Instead he could do it on Pvt Roads, Racing tracks...Hell Maybe a Team-BHP meeting if we do manage to get hold of him...!

This debate reminds me of the one thread we had earlier about Car Advt, In which we discussed which actors should be in Jail and companies fined...! I think Amitabh, Shahrukh, Abishek, John all broke rules of traffic while shooting for their movies or Ad's on Public Road..So get hold of them too...!

Try reading a news paper next time... instead of music!...

This was all planned.... the cell phone camera never bothered to peep in.

The fact that he had a newspaper in his hand was to show off the whole situation. What he has trying to depict was that the car was being driven without a driver... and not the fact that he could drive from the passenger seat.... aajtak needed a story they made one up.

well if its a clear strech then why not, I have sometimes stuck a page or to my steering and had to memorize for my exams, But yes I was strapped in the drivers seat though..!

The video was shot by an amatuer from a call center cab, Although yes its a waste of national air time..!
