Want to know from where the likes of AR Rehman, Vidyasagar, Vijusha...draws "inspiration" from?

Listen to Deep Forest albums!

pritam and rajesh roshan have to be the kings as far as chori is concerned.
all most all songs from koi mil gaya and krishh are blatant lifts.so are songs from life in a metro and race.

even oldies like shankar-jaikishen and s.d.burman have lifted tunes

i thought that nice song of Atif seemed so original. It was a shock. How shameful of them to just put hindi words in them and release them and called their own.

Also read the piece on Pritam, especially the recent New York, movie scandal. Its funny.

It seems each and every of his songs are a direct lift from farthest corner of the world, like korea, lebanon, indonesia.

I was shell shocked couple of years back when I learnt Akhele hain to kya ghum hai from Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak is lifted, from this same website. The original is note to note the same, but an instrumental- Shadows (Return to the Alamo)!

:(

I think the website owner needs to learn music a little bit.

Sometimes, you do compose music, which borrows slight ideas from some other tune/music you've heard earlier (which you may or may not remember).

Of course I am not talking about blatant copy, having hindi lyrics - like Anu Mallick or Bappi Lahiri.

Well you missed the point of that website. Its a compilation of which song is inspired/copied from which. In the process its not important if the creator is a plain listener or MA in Music.

He did mention in each where there is blatant lift or there is inspiration.

It don't take me or anyone for that matter (even a kid) to be an expert in music to compare the following.

Thank God, you only posted the link. If you had posted the songs and their inspirations, the bandwidth of this forum would have finished.

I had a glimpse of a sing from Himesh's new Movie Radio. It looked both the song & Video are heavily *inspired* by Savage Garden's 'I want you' song.

Did anyone else who has seen the promo in detail, confirm this?

Somehow I cant stand the songs of the movie Radio

Want more inspiration stuff? 'Tu hi meri shab hai' from Gangster a straight lift from 'Sacral Nirvana' by Oliver Shanti & Friends. Pritam is THE man.

You Bet Pritam Beats everyone in Plagiarism.

But then the producers are happy since his songs are popular.

Himesh had very few copied songs when compared to his peers but offlate he too is drifting that way.

How come, no one here mentioned GUPT and THE EXORCIST theme music? Don't exactly remember which song, but theres one which starts exactly on the lines of Exorcist's theme music. Direct fit, if I may say!!

The theme of Exorcist was Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. And yes, it was lifted straight into Soldier.

One reason why I do not like Hindi film music is, err, plagiarism. Some of AR Rehman's earlier tunes do have a whiff of Enigma - but he makes up for that with a lot of good original stuff. To guys who say that plagiarism is a world wide phenomenon I can only say this - that abroad you can get sued big time and that most of the times, people credit inspiration. Unlike here where blatant copies are passed off as originals.
