Hey,

You need to make some inquiries man. LCD prices in India have crashed and yes they are available at 10-12k for 19" in Mumbai at lamington Road. They may not be the best brands but still you will get brands like Acer/Benq, TCL etc in that price range.

My friend said that if he sends me an HID kit from the US by courier and declares it as gift then i will not have any problems with duty here. Is that right? Can someone confirm this?

Hi,

You are mistaken. It all has to do with luck when you import something via courier. If it is something that is branded and recognized then you will end up paying duty. Sometimes you may get away without paying any duty but by law you have to pay duty.

I have ordered a helmet before and a tank bag and bith times i didnt get charged duty. Is it right that you get charged 35% duty on car & bike spares? I'm guessing that if you buy protective apparel then they usually dont charge duty. Ok and what if there is no invoice in the package and its a non branded item...or if i have them under-invoice it?

Sure!
I buy from DealExtreme: Cool Gadgets at the Right Price - Site-Wide Free Shipping. Good cheap 2-3$ stuff, like flashlights etc.,
Never ordered anything expensive, only cheapo stuff.
