Samurai, are you friends with your area's cable operator? If yes, try to talk him into letting you use his permission from local authorities for use of poles for stringing of cables and get a OFC link. OFC 6core ariel cable is approx 10 rupees per meter. The media convertor is about 2000 per pair. It will be much efficient. I am doing this for a few organisations in here (I have a cable operator's license and pay the authorities for usage of poles).

Default When?

Can someone tell me when high speed wireless broadband will be widely available in India WITHOUT THROWING A LOT OF TECHY JARGON AT ME please? I just want my internet access to run faster than a goat. Right now I have BSNL ADSL and the service is lousy, often slow, broken connection when lines working, then, lines down etc. And, dealing with BSNL folks often is a big pain in the asterisk. As I write this the local folks, Airtel, Tata and Reliance promise no better than 150kbps in my area. Please answer in simple terms, I am WIMAX stupid and intend to stay that way forever.

Vikram_D has the 1 Mbps unlimited Tata Wimax service for Rs 4000/ month and no setup charges. Upon last check he was quoted as saying "I never knew something invisible as the Wimax connection can give one so much pleasure"

Default WiMAX by BSNL

Reviving an old Thread.

BSNL looks like have launched WiMAX services in Bangalore.

You can find their tariff:

:: BSNL WiMax ::

Anyone has anymore details on this one?

Superb post vezj420. Thanks.

Will the latency of WiMax services be comparable to ADSL?

I am having both Tata Indicom Wimax & BSNL connections.
Earlier Tata used to be quite unreliable lot of connection latching issues, but nowadays the connection is quite good. Have not experienced much difference in latency.

Thanks tj123.

Could you give these two sites a spin on the WiMax and post your results :

Pingtest.net - The Global Broadband Quality Test

Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

Thanks,
R

Ive been using tata indicom Wimax since 2 years i guess. this is the only connection which lasted for 2 years. Not even once it gave any problem. I have used Airtel, BSNL, etc etc , but this is the best. very reliable n cheap.
