Treks take 150 plus
Btwins 125 plus but being closer to 140 I have used the Rockrider 5 3 with hybrid tyres extensively.

Dear cyclist, the worlds biggest cycling race started on 1st July. Yes, I'm talking about the Tour de France. Do visit following thread on TBHP for regular updates and discussion about this sporting spectacle.

Anyone into vintage bicycles? This seems to be the new trend here. I am seriously considering this bike

Steel is making a comeback. In randonneuring, it never left though!

Looking for advice.
I am looking to upgrade my btwin my bike.
I ride in paved roads as well as rough terrain at least twice a week.
So inclined towards hybrids.
To start with I have shortlisted montra downtown and mach city Munich ,but willing to go a bit further.
Is it alright or shall I go for other models or brands?

I carry the bike in my scorpio with the second row seats fully folded and the jump seats folded up. Creates a huge loading area.
What time you go to Van Vihar. I am there twice a month on Sundays. My usual timing is 7 am and remain there photographing birds till 10.
Infact we (myself and @Mr.mitsuvolk) are considering upgrading ourselves to a cycle. We can discuss options in person.

If you can increase your budget, look at international brands (Scott, Fuji, Giant, Schwinn, Merida, Cannondale, etc.). If you can't then Montra and Firefox are pretty decent. Look at the Montra blues / Firefox Rapide. They have better components than the Downtown.

I have a Montra Rock 650B HD MTB, which I am using in the rains. It's not quite as refined as my Fuji road bike, but, it's certainly not a bad bicycle. It's tough, stable and surprisingly quick.

Can someone in Bangalore help me with putting together a Fixie? I find the colorful Fixies a tad too costly for my pocket!

Schwinn Supersport 3. Simple and light road-focussed hybrid. Else Montra Blues 1.1 / 1.2 (we have some happy owners on the forum) or Firefox Momentum.

Also look at used buys if you are open to the idea.

The Montra blues is a nice one for the budget you have. Although its a tad bit on the heavier side..

For the really good Hybrids - go for the Schwinn, Fuji or the Marin. Those are true blue hybrids in the market with Marin being really top of line...

Does someone in Bangalore have space, time and inclination for bike building? This is a hobby i've been meaning to pick up for quite a while and I'd like both company and assistance in getting it off the ground...

Thank you, everyone, over here, after going through almost all messages here and a couple of visits to local cycle shops/studios, we (myself and @Mr.mitsuvolk) have finally booked Firefox Road Runner Pro-V, the entry-level hybrid bike from Firefox.

Absolutely! Would love to meet you. Congratulations on booking a Firefox bike. When do you expect it? I park my white Scorpio on the lake view drive side and carry my bike in it.

Never searched for a thread on Bicycles earlier. But now i have started cycling since last 3 months and did a search on the forum and it did not disappoint me.

Bought a Montra about 3 months back and have been cycling 3-4 days a week. Able to do around 20 Kms everyday. Longest ride has been from Kothrud to Khadakvasla and back (Pune BHPians would know these locations).

Use Strava free edition which helps in providing route, avg speed, elevation etc. Need inputs on buying a device which can help in heart rate monitoring, cadence etc.

Still a novice in cycling and may post further queries for expert guidance.

Cheers,
Amit
