The tri-cycle could be a good start and then a bicycle .

I've asked someone to search for my BSA Streetcat back in my native but not able to find it.

I'll get it to bangalore and use it to office everyday. It will be fun.

Default For BMW, Benz, Audi etc. owners !

For members (as titled above) who really hesitate to shift to cycle could opt for this without any second thought ! The price of the Mercedes-Benz mountain bike is €2,790 (incl. VAT in Germany, thats only Rs.1.87 laks+100% tax+import duty+VAT+customs bribe+(name the remaining bribes) in India) and it is available from Mercedes-Benz dealers from May 2008.

Reduce your cholestrol, BP, unwanted fat etc. Cycle helmets are not very common in India as I dont find any around. May be we should ask the chinese traders to import more.

I like these. But I am looking for a bike (cycle) in which the wheels can be easily removed & put back so that I can take it apart, put it in my car and take it on breaks away from NCR.

for city commuting
Brompton cycles are quite handy and the best I've seen so far when it comes to ease and practicality.
good luck finding one in india though.

even in the UK, when I was hunting for a second hand one on ebay- they were expensive.

also useful for city commuting are electric assist motors that can be retro fitted to most cycles.

problems with cycling in india
1.safety
2.pollution will destroy your lungs in 5yrs or less
3.heat

I gave up, inspite of being an avid cyclist till 6 yrs ago(30km a day)

problem 3 is no big deal if you have a shower at the office.
I used to cycle to work in london. cant imagine doing that in cochin. I'm terrified.

I find the title of this thread changing everyday !! May be there are too many topics connected to fuel therefore tough to classify a certain subject to one title. I found a very interesting video on fuel price effect as pedestrians replacing every road and signal. Not able to post the WMA/V file. Will try it on some other server and post the link. By the way, majority of analysts are predicting US$200 per barrel of oil by end of this year. Thats another couple of price hike drama/harthal/strike in waiting !!

Hi all,

I finally convinced myself that my nomadic instincts have to take backseat for a while,
So i went ahead and bought a Hercules WOW MTB.
Fully loaded with the following:
front and rear suspensions,
Power Brakes,
18 gears Shimono,
Adjustable mud flaps,
Racing rims (don't know how will they affect an MTB)

Just need to exercise (Lots) to get back into shape.

Cheers

@motorhead congrats!

Shimano is the best
Suspension on bicycles.... not so sure, kind of a waste of pedalling energy.
But definitely will make your ride more comfortable.

Got inspired here... and got myself an awfully expensive bike!

A Trek 4300D ATB for approx 26K! + mud flaps + helmet + bottle holder + bottle. Front shocks, 24 gears (shimano), front & rear discs (even my car doesn;t have that .. the rear atleast). Will be taking it out for the 1st run tomo morning. Cant wait
