No, BUSA, I do not work for Tata's. As a matter of fact I do not even like their vehicles. The discussion was about the top 5 Indian cars, and apart from Tata/Mahindra, there aren't any other INDIAN manufacturers. All the other cars have been transplanted here from other markets.

This thread was started in 2004,by now there have been so many new launches and upgrades so the prefernces might have changed so lets start it all over again.

My new preferences-
Small Hatchback- Palio gtx then Swift now
lower midsizer - Ikon 1.6 then Verna CRDi now
Midsizer- Octavia TDi then Civic or optra magnum diesel now
D segment-Mondeo then Accord now
Luxury seg- C class then BMW 3 now
- E class then 5 series now
- audi a6 then S class now
- Bentley continental forever
- Phantom

off lately i am realising that i am in love with common rail diesels and petrols dont excite me anymore except some excetional engine or modded ones.

category should be different for CBUs as well as CKDs i guess.

Well As far as the latter is concerned...
1. BMW 325i.
2. BMW 530i.
3. BMW 525d.
4. Skoda RS.
5. Ford Mondeo(wish it had still been in production)

well as far as audi RS4 is concerned, BMW will start importing the M3 from January 2008. so untill then rejoice Audi..

^^^It's a small I dont own anyone of the above but I wud love to one day...when I can spend a fortune trying to maintain them...ha ha.But seriously I shall love to own the Hindustan Contessa,the Mahindra MM 540/550 open top with 35" wheels and off course the Chevy Forrestor someday....untill then....sighs
