1. Maruti 800 5 Speed - the best iteration of the car that changed the Indian automotive scene - forever.
2. Maruti Suzuki Swift - the car that single handedly changed the impression of Suzuki worldwide and Maruti in India.
3. Honda City Vtec Type 2
4. Mahindra Classic
5. Toyota Camry

I agree with most of the lists here (especially ones with the Mondeo in them!) - here's my list of fav vehicles, limited to the ones I've driven only:

5) The Hyundai Tucson [hey I liked it]

4) Maruti-Suzuki Swift [loved the peppy engine, VFM for it's time]

3) Toyota Qualis [Strong workhorse, survivor]

2) Hyundai i20 [liked it so much, just bought one]

1) Fiat Linea MJD Emotion Pack [Loved it. Wanted one badly.]

Here's my list :

a) Maruti 800 - the car that changed the Indian automotive scene for good (not technically, but Alto, Zen, Wagon R etc are all enhancements to the 800 IMO). Stupid thing even tho ages old is still selling respectable numbers!

b) Maruti Swift - Started the so called premium hatch segment like no ones business. Others have come and gone. Its still ticking strong.

c) Skoda Octavia - First of its kind 'affordable' diesel + european luxury & build. Gave us the 'thud'. Lauras, Jettas, Superbs were all enhancements in to the Octavia, in Indian context. Mercs were purely a status symbol. Nothing pathbreaking here.

d) NHC - It got Honda the brand recognition that it has now. The OHC was a better car but it was the NHC that gave Honda a 'mass appeal'. And, it gave the owner the kind of FE and snob value no other good petrol sedan could manage.

e) Tata Indica - Changed, rather coined the term 'cab' in indian context.

My list is as follows:-
  1. Maruti 800 - This car can go literally anywhere. Small wonder indeed!
  2. Maruti Zen - I am biased. I have one and i feel like king when i drive her!
  3. Skoda Octavia vrS - True performer. India's first 'hot rod' well more or less.
  4. Honda City 1.5VTEC - The older ones. Just before it was replaced by the egg shaped City. Blitzering performer! Yet to sit in one (can you believe). There is a black one near my house who keeps driving up and down New BEL Road. The sound, speaks for itself!
  5. Ford Endeavour - Menacing looks, Ultimate off-roader and not exorbitantly priced.

Cars I owned and drove

Maruti 800, a frugal car, a car I have driven most of my life.

Hyundai Ascent for its VFM and sturdiness. Easy to manouvre

Indica Xeta, a peppy hatchback with rugged build

Skoda Octavia for it snob value and performance

Honda City, everything a luxury car can give
