I agree with everthing Ian Chappell has said, except for his claim that Brian Lara either is or was, three years ago, the best batsman in world cricket. I agree that Lara is still playing in the same attractive style, but he is (or was, three years ago) nowhere near as consistent as he used to be. He used to fail three or more times in a row, in between some big scores. Players like Ponting or even India's Dravid were much more consistent than Brian Lara. Today Ponting is undoubtedly the best. Of course Chappell might have meant that Lara is the most attractive player (in terms of style), which is acceptable.

Anil Kumble retires from One Day cricket. I think it was overdue. Now lets concentrate on finding a replacement for him.

Also if anyone is watching Star News right now - interesting discussion on Ian Chappel's comments

That is typical Aussie mentality, You don play, you are OUT!!!

I seriously feel he is just playing cricket for records and ads, nothing else.

And for Anil Kumble's replacement... lets not wreck brains over it!!

Nobody will beat us - McGrath

Glenn McGrath believes no side will threaten Australia in their push for a third successive World Cup, provided the defending champions keep up their current form. McGrath, who is poised to become the leading wicket-taker in World Cup history, said Australia had the ability to win every match in the tournament, as they did in 2003.

I feel dravid can stay. He is the only unselfish senior in the side.
