Khaadu 75, my guess is same too expect, NZ beating aussies.

Run rate too counts for 4th position, when England, Bangladesh, WI, SA end up with 6 points each. Even then SA stands to emerge out as winner to SF

This is suspected to be one of the reasons for the slow scoring rate of our seniors in the WC, which resulted in Greg Chappell commenting that they are playing for endorsements rather than for the team.
During this WC,a senior player[am not taking his name] had a contract with a shoe company which stated that he would be paid for the amount of time the player would spend on the field displaying the sponsor's logo irrespective of the number of runs he scores.

This contract has what got chappell very very angry because apparently the player did play that way only and tried to stay at the crease for as long as possible never actually wanting to endanger his wicket.Greg chappell did point this out to bcci and which is why all future contracts will now have to be first approved by the bcci.

I read this too and it very clearly said Saurav Ganguly was the player. Infact he had inked the deal just before the departure to the West Indies. I don't remember the name of the Shoe company but I vaguely remember its PUMA. (I could be wrong )

Saurav Ganguly endorses Puma ( Ganguly roped in as brand ambassador of Puma : Cricket OFF-THE-FIELD : CricketZone.Com ).

But not sure about the contract terms though.

But why the hell the other Star Batsmen in the Team (Sachin, Dravid etc) couldn't play against Bangladesh and SL???

Lara was a great Batsman, but he failed as a Captain and so he gracefully quit!
But, Mr.Dravid who was a utter failure as Captain (see how India performed under him in last 2 years and World Cup debacle recently) and still he shamelessly wants to continue as Captain!

Lara quits ODI and as a consequence he no longer is the captain.
He didn't relinquish captaincy & continued playing.
